Last year, our starting pitcher ave 6.10 innings. Our main 5 guys (who started 151 of 162) ave 6.21 innings
2015, our starters ave 5.77 innings per start.
So that is almost exactly 1/3 of an inning less per start so far this year
I think the 5.77 will improve. Not sure if we will get to 6.00 by year's end ( we would have to ave 6.04 rest of the way to do that) but I think we will be very close if we dont
good stats. I'd be curious how the average IP of starters correlates to success recently (because in the olden days all starters went 8 or 9 innings and were weird)
I was a Braves fan growing up, so I looked back 20 years ago at the 95 Braves that had good starting pitching staff and won the World Series.
Atl went 90-54 (shorter season coming off strike year). Their starting 5 was Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Avery, and Kent Merker.
Those 5 started 141 of 144 games. They ave 6.50 Inn per start. Their combined ERA in those starts was 3.24 (Royals main 5 starters were 3.41 last year in those 151 starts)
