starting all these scrubs leaves little doubt that the royals don't respect the tigers.

The starters are either hurt or suspended, so technically this is the A team.

Plus, iirc, J-Guts is virtually unhittable during the day

4 out of 5 starts now that Guthrie has allowed 4 ERs or more.   His other start he gave up 3ER.  Has not been sharp at all this season

B Team today. Backup in RF, CF, and SS. Frankly I'd just assume start Kratz today, give Salvy a rest unless we need a PH in late innings, but that's not happening.

Why would you give anyone a rest the day before a bye?

2 days off?   :dunno:

Yeah, he's this year's Chen.
He started slow last year... Gave up 4 or more ERs in 6 of 9 starts(4.76 ERA).   Then he was pretty good the rest of season with exception of a bad July.
8 starts 2.65 ERA, then 10.07 in 4 July starts, then 3.06 ERA in 11 starts to end year

Too early to tell if he will right the ship or not, but if he doesn't in the next half dozen starts, I think Chris Young becoming starter #5 has to be considered.   Young had 3.07 ERA in first 24 starts in 2014 and he said he started to wear out down the stretch and his final 5 starts weren't good.  So for now, he stays in the 'Pen cause more than 25 starts probably not in the cards for Young anyway

Because I watched the 2014 Royals, where in August and September Salvador Perez was so worn down he became a liability, and I'd like him to be rested.

We started this Guthrie character in Game 7 of the World Series. Kind of a miracle we didn't lose 14-2.

We've been a pretty average team the last 3 weeks. 9-9 since the 7-0 start...

We've also been without the following players at some point or another during this stretch:
Rios
Escobar
Holland
Ventura
Volquez
Cain

We won games against Kluber and Sale. 9-9 is ok for this part of the schedule.

Posse stat of the day =
Since last year, Guthrie has allowed 22 ERs in 24.2 vs Det in 5 starts.  Roughed up in 3 outings, pitched pretty decent in other 2 starts.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing Young start next Sat in Detroit, and just move Guth back a few days and have him start vs Texas on Monday.  Det only gotten 7 hits and 2ERs in 17 inn against Young, dating back to last year.   This would also allow Ned get back to having our rotation not having 2 lefties pitch back2back ( Vargas, Duffy pitch this Tue/Wed).

Guts is going to have to have several more games like today for Ned to make a change. Ned sticks with his guys until he absolutely can't.

Our May schedule is brutal. Need to get at least 2 (preferably all 3) from Cleveland this week.

For now, I'm ok with Guts staying in rotation. I'd just rather have Young go in Det and bump Guts back to Texas series.  Fri night, Yost made decision to bump Vargas back to Tues and went with Guts today.

Guess how long the concession lines were in the upper deck today?

Yeah, the one negative of being good is all those other people coming to games now.

It was really bad today.  Like hilariously bad.  30-40 minute wait.

He had some Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) stat they kept trotting out last year where he had like a 2.00 era during day games.  The one I heard recently is that he has the all time best winning percentage of Royals starters with a minimum of 80 starts. The team has won like 67% of the games he's started since he signed.

That is so annoying. I sat in the upper deck for the Friday night game against Oakland, and they looked pretty bad with the lines. Aramark needs to go.
