I'm fine with Gore on the roster, but it might mean you have to save Dyson and leave Aoki in games late, so that you have another guy who can hit. The Aoki/Cain/Gordon outfield is fine in 7/8/9 because its strikeout city anyway. Then Dyson can PH for a pitcher, bunt city, steal 2nd, steal 3rd, whoever is up next bunt city, bam winning run.

well Johnny G has 8 hits and a GW home run this year in 37 at bats, and is not that much slower than Gore :dunno:
plus he can play 2nd, where we currently have a wounded old man playing.

listen i'm just spitballing here. i'm on the fence.

:dubious: ...everyone in baseball is much slower than Gore.

Show me a Gore run scored where JG couldn't have.

yeah Gore barely beat the throw on that one, good call

Yeah, I bet Johnny G would be stealing 3rd with two outs in the bottom of the 9th.

i hope we hit more home runs in SF, that park looks really HR friendly. which is weird because apparently it's not. sys get in here

they talked about it a lot on the giants radio broadcast yesterday.  wind was blowing out to right.  it normally (almost always) is blowing in off the water.

It would seem that playing in two fields that are not HR friendly would benefit the team that specializes in manufacturing bizzaro runs.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

let's talk about Gore. I was definitely a fan of having him on the ALCS roster. Now i'm not so sure, since we will be playing in an NL park, and we do not apparently trust him to even bunt.

i vote we start trusting him to bunt.

Does Fanning really not want a 30 for 30 about the Royals? I mean wow.

Didn't know until that tweet a bit ago they're a 30 for 30 crew. That's very cool.

I wonder if that weirdo went to any cemeteries and took his shirt off while he was in Korea.  Freak

i think the giants do too.  but maybe that's just based on their playoff games.  my impression is, though, that these two teams are like mirror images.

I've lost more organs than the Royals have playoff games!  :Wha: :Woohoo:

appendectomies and dong reductions have been the organ sacrifices that Odin desired.
I would be willing to give a ball hell both for a WS title. I don't need them anyways.

Gore needs to be in.  He doesn't need much of a lead-off to comfortably steal, and he has proven not to get caught off base like Dyson has.  Gore can really eff with a pitcher's head.  It's a guaranteed steal if he is on.

i disagree because i think Aoki's OBP is like oxygen and the offense needs it to breathe

Shields actually looks pretty good in the batter's box. It's too bad he's pitching at Kauffman.

love the creativity mocat and its not a terrible talking point. it just doesnt make sense. gore doesnt get used for anything other than base running and giovatella and gore are gonna be the last guys to get called up to bat anyways. if gore goes in to pinch run he will likely bat if there is no better option to bat for him. hes not going to pinch hit for someoneone. same goes for gio. the difference in my mind is gores speed will come into play 10 times before gios better bat would come into play...

So, obviously not ideal, but Willingham can swing it a little bit, and probably wouldn't lose you the game if he had to play right field for an inning.

Willingham is already on the roster, but he is behind Billy on the list of PH when we are at AT&T

well if somehow we are stuck with Gore at the plate late in a game and it doesn't work, there is no time to fix it because your roster has to be the same for the entire WS

If we get stuck with Gore at the plate late in the game, we are clearly not doing what we've been doing
