luked? don't care

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/so-why-do-our-playoff-odds-love-the-royals/

Team        LCS Odds   WS Odds
Royals   63%            36%
Cardinals   52%             25%
Giants   48%             23%
Orioles   37%       16%

yeah those odds are based on their pre-season WAR projections, and do not factor in actual 2014 performance

Well, that isn't true. It includes more than just this year, but it doesn't discount this year

EMAWforever, do you think Jeter would wanna come be our DH?
A retired guy would be more production than we got most of the seaso.  Billy was almost 2 outs (double play) every time.  We could just leave the space open and only have one out. :)

We need 2012 Billy.  29 HR's .510 SLG .882 OPS.  Will he ever do that again?

it's a team option not a player option.

Signing Santana instead of BGJ doesn't help you with getting Melky though

i don't think shields is willing to take a short-term deal.  i'd get shields if possible, but i don't think it's possible (for a sane team).

you can pay melky with chen+butler+aoki money.

I don't care if we have to sign Shields for 10 years. I would sign him because he is hands down the best pitcher this team can add to the roster for 2015 and this roster is knocking on the door of a world series. Small market baseball teams don't have big windows for success. We need to go all in and win this ruff ridin' thing and worry about rebuilding after the smell of champagne goes away.

Guys, talk about the 2015 team, payroll, free agents, contracts, etc ends at 7 PM central time tonight so get it all out of your system. We have an ALCS to worry about. We'll worry about that other stuff later.

might as well get lester and scherzer too.  worry about 2016 when 2016 comes.

If we could afford to pay them in 2015, I would be all for it. We need to expand the payroll and put the best roster in baseball on the field in 2015.

Is David Price a free agent?

EDIT:  Nope, not until next year.  Tigers will probably extend him by then.  I was just thinking because he comes to Kansas a lot I guess?

I, for one, am excited that the Royals are spending money to show that they are investing in this team doing well going forward. I think Shields' leadership along with his obvious pitching ability is worth the price.

guys these games are going to be so stressful

They've been winning enough close games that I am not going to be stressed at all until they lose one.  Then I will absolutely panic and call every game from there on out a "must win" like every announcer.
"Sure they're up 3-1, but if they lose this one then Baltimore will have all kinds of momentum.  Then you lose the next and its win or go home for the series in Camden.  Really a must win for the Royals here"
