So what changed, or what's different, between the Angels and Baltimore series, re:  Vargie?

Vargie is a fly ball pitcher and fly balls in Camden can easily become home runs.

Good move by Ned.

I mean, Willingham is a valuable player especially with games in Baltimore. You get a lefty on the mound late in a game he can pinch hit for Moose, or go in at DH after Billy gets PR for. And Gore is just a dynamic weapon to unleash upon these losers.

yep, gotta have willingham.  he lets you use gore without suffering.

At least he's less likely to give up home runs at the K.

Just started watching this show called The Wire. People tell me that it's pretty good.

interesting week to start watching a show from Baltimore...

btw, same reaction on guthrie as vargas.  it's fine to pitch them.  deliberately pitching either of them at camden (twice!) instead of kauffman when they could use ventura in the camden games is simply Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

Ventura walks a lot of guys and gives up more home runs than Vargas. Guthrie should definitely only be pitching at home, but the other two are pretty much a toss-up.

vargas = 15.5% strikeouts and 37.3% groundballs/42.8% flyballs on batted balls
ventura = 20.1% strikeouts and 47.7% groundballs/31.5% flyballs on batted balls.

overall effectiveness has been about the same, but vargas is more impacted by size of the field.

You guys, we're going to have to gamble a bit this series either way. Everyone take a deep breath. They'll have to do the same.

Yeah, I think I was trying to paint a pretty picture if Vargas was the guy. I'm happy with the decision, but wouldn't be too disturbed either way. I mean, I think Duffy should be No. 2, but I don't know the details and am not as smart as I would like to believe.

well his 101.1 IP at Kauffman Stadium this year cannot be considered a fluke (he has a 4.53 ERA there, despite throwing a CG shutout vs Oakland).

listen i like the move by Ned with Ventura @ Baltimore, and Vargas at home. I'm just saying, let's not just swallow this narrative that Camden is Coors, and Vargas thrives at kauffman

Changing the subject a bit. What has been the defining moment (for you) up to this point in the season?

For me it was the three-run eighth after falling behind against Oakland. It didn't even get them the lead, but was just such a great few minutes. The running and the hit parade was typical Royals. So much fun.

your numbers are weird, where are they from?

coors - 1.223
camden - 1.172

Well I don't want Vargas to start in KC either. I'd go (if healthy):

Shields
Ventura
Duffy
Guthrie
Shields
Ventura
Duffy

camden - 1.275
kauffman - 0.880

everything i'm seeing shows a big difference (tho i don't understand why everywhere has different numbers).

this is just 2014, and just HR (not runs)

http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor/_/sort/HRFactor

i think it compares a team and opponent's HRs at home vs the same team and their opponents on the road

It's home runs. You have to scroll down to the second table.
