Pretty sure that Finnegan was the first pitcher to be subjected to the goEMAW heckling section.

Shouldn't a 1st round draft pick have at least 1 win. I mean they finished ahead of us and I'm pretty sure all out starters had at least 1 win. Good grief  :flush:
Didn't like the Finnegan pick, but don't base your dislike on those kinds of stats.

A lefty that throws mid 90's has 0 wins for a D1 team. Let that sink in. Yeah they had no run support but good god, 0 wins.

That was last year btw

They used a 0 win season as his scouting report, don't even want to know what he did this season  :'bye cruel world:

TBT, why are you worried about the stat that is the least indicative of performance in all of baseball? He went 8-3 this year, does that mean he's awesome now? Did he get an arm transplant or something?

That series felt a lot like taking three of four from the Red Sox last August. This team could be coming together. As long as they can follow Gordon's lead and get choosey with the bats they'll be alright.

2.5 games out of the WC, 4 games back of Detroit.

Tigers are definitely doing their part. They've lost 13 of their last 17.  :)

Deuce, you don't throw mid 90's from the left side, with a serviceable change and slider and go winless for a D1 school. Period. That proves to me he doesn't have the compete gene and is absolutely a horrible 17th overall pick.

Yeah draft based on potential, but this is a don't draft based on potential guy.

Out of everything I said, that's what you point out.

Obviously you don't see the need to compete to win.

2nd round 56th pick overall Royals:

Quote
Blewett, Scott   Baker HS (NY)   RHP   R/R   HS
6'6" 210lbs DOB: 04/10/96
Blewett got better and better last summer, taking a step forward at the Area Code Games in August and then another at Perfect Game's World Wood Bat Association World Championship two months later. That trajectory had him working his way up the list of high-school right-handers in this Draft class. Already 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, Blewett has the look of a big leaguer. He uses his size to throw his fastball on a step downhill plane, and he worked at 91-94 mph and touched 96 early in his start at the WWBA event. He still needs to add strength to show that velocity more consistently and deeper into ballgames. Blewett's curveball and command were unreliable at times earlier in the summer, but he did a better job throwing tight mid-70s breaking balls and filling the strike zone at later events on the showcase circuit. He'll also flash a decent changeup. A St. John's recruit, he has a loose arm and a sound delivery for someone with his youth and size.

Obviously you don't see the need to compete to win.

Over half his starts that year he gave up two or fewer runs. Had an ERA just a shade above three, and struck out more than a batter per inning. He really can't control what happens at the plate. I don't love the pick because of his size and mechanics, but I wouldn't say it's a horrible pick. The Royals aren't going to have any money to spend on pitching the next few years, because they're going to have to pay for some bats. So, we're gonna need some college pitchers ready to come in and play. This guy looks like he has the ability to be a middle of the rotation guy in 2016, if it doesn't work out then scouts think he has the ability to be a really good closer. I'm okay with that.

Starting Friday night, we have four home games with the Yanks and two with the Tribe. Predictions? I'm thinking 3-3.

Interesting "it's a small world" type story... This kids mom is a sales rep for Xerox that sells to our company and one of my co-workers knows that family well as he runs/coaches one of the top level 14/15 yr old select teams in the area.

My buddy will see them at the super regional in Ft Worth this weekend and I've already discussed with him the incident where Finnegan got worked by a 5 yr old "jr heckler" last spring.  Stay tuned.

i can't even tell if moose definitely sucks or might be a mlb average player someday and he's had like 1500 at bats.  so i can hardly opine about draft picks.  also i thought it was great when they picked that nu outfielder from kc that sucks (maybe).

Three seasons later, Bubba Starling is still playing single A ball and is posting mediocre stats. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say he's a bust.

Yeah. Any first overall pick who hasn't reached the majors by then end of his second year is a bust, imo. This pud hasn't even gotten out of single A yet.

2000 - Adrian Gonzalez: Bust
2001 - Joe Mauer: Bust
2003 - Delmon Young: Bust (he's actually probably a bust)
2004 - Matt Bush: Bust (actual true bust, now in prison)
2005 - Justin Upton:
2008 - Tim Beckham: Bust (2013 was first MLB action. He's played 5 MLB games.)
2010 - Bryce Harper:

Pretty poor track record of first overall picks going by that criteria. And when did Starling become the No. 1 overall pick? It is concerning that he hasn't progressed more quickly.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.
