just a hypothetical.  Doesn't seem like they would just re-do JGut's deal to save $3m.  I think there is another move(s) coming.

good question.  Not really sure.  I think it's hard to see a situation where we free up room to make a 1 yr deal on a guy that isn't Erv.

Could be that the Royals are trying to free up some cash with several arbitrations possibly on the horizon. Unless they sign those eligible for arbitration, they know at least some of the eligible players will win their arb cases.
