did you guys know before this season that the playoffs last for an entire month? an entire month of high stakes drama, and the royals won like, every single game. the royals won 100 games this year, and 11 of them came in october. did you see the royals in october 2014? oh yeah, me too. they went 11-4 that month. that's a really good month. did they play any good teams? oh yeah, they played the 2 teams with the 2 best records in baseball and swept them 7-0. they beat the best starting pitcher in baseball 9-8. then they had a 2-1 lead in the world series. then they beat the world series champs 10 to freaking zero. they owned every single player on the world series champs's team, except for one guy with a girl's name and a last name that absurdly does not have a D in it. the royals were 48-50 and i threw in the towel completely, which i absolutely never do with my teams. the royals just LOL'd and were like, "we are going to go 11-4 in october. you are going to party your pants off E L E V E N freaking times in october. you are going to be hung over and unproductive E L E V E N freaking mornings in october. you are going to spend so much time and energy and money hanging on every pitch of 15 baseball games in october. we don't care that you gave up on us. you can spend as much money as you want at the mlb shop and wear royals world series stuff that does not say 1985 on it. october is fun, you'll learn that. we'll see you in 2015." and wow when the royals said that to me i got goosebumps and did everything they said they would do, and i'm so glad it happened. everything that happened was amazing. it was the most amazing sports phenomenon i have ever witnessed, and it happened to my freaking team. the moniker "america's team" was not used facetiously or in a self-deprecating way. it was honest to god the truth. my team was america's team for one magical month. i love you all.

please note: for the purpose of this post, i am including the oakland A's game as if it occurred in October (it ended in October on the east coast)

It was weird once they got lead there was a real resignation in the crowd that we couldn't come back.  We are absolute hackers at plate.  I expect to see league get even wiser than they already are to this.

Yeah. I really hope this team hasn't already peaked, but it's very hard for me to see them making another World Series run with this group of players.

Pretty crazy how many showed up at Kauffman for that rally. No way I could bring myself to walking back in that stadium the day after.

Be afraid Bum would come out and knock all the hats off the players or something mean.

Yup. Think it's going to get worse the next couple days as I look back with bros and fully wrap my head around what was laying in front of us.

Its a shame that if we were planning on stretching the bullpen like we did, that we didn't let Danny have a shot in the 3rd or 4th. H/D/H was wonderful, and unfortunately a little broken bat bloop, Infante's slip on the grass, and Panik making a great double play on Hosmer were the difference. But that's baseball.

Did anyone else hear that Ned admitted Duffy had a ribcage injury from his last regular season start that limited him to 2/3 innings in any appearance in the postseason.

Yeah, but 2 innings was all we needed. Who knows, maybe they would of lit him up.

I try not to do these things, but I was more thinking of the what ifs had Duffy been available to start in the WS.

I didn't like how long it usually took Duffy to "warm up" when he came in during the playoffs, but it makes sense considering his injury.

And I'll say it; I knew Bum would be tough last night, but I never ever expected him to last that long and be that effective. We messed up when we didn't take advantage of him struggling in his first inning. Darn.

For just 1 second I let myself dream of Salvy putting it over the wall when he walked up to the plate

Yeah, this is the game I'll always remember as the one that got away and lost the series.

How many 3 run leads did we lose all season?

Not many, and there were numerous games we've all watched as fans where we felt like our team lost it. That game didn't have that feel IMO. The Giants took it. We tried to hang out, get to Herrera, but they just took it.

Maybe this has been posted as I haven't read all the posts since the game, but I think it was worthwhile.  Makes me feel a little better about not sending Gordon, even if it would've been really cool

yeah. Salvy was more likely to get a single than Gordon was to make it home IMO. Frankly we were lucky he was at 3rd and not 1st
