I'm tired of reading posts and articles about Ned being a villain or the thing that will hold this team back. He's pushed a lot of buttons correctly this season and deserves credit for it.

FTR, I agree with this, but I was annoyed by calling out the fans.

I had no problem with Ned's comments. Given the K's shitty location I think it's understandable that 30,000+ weren't there last night, but the fact that only 13,000 were there is frustrating.

It's also worth noting that 31,758 were there for the Yankees game on Monday, so the school/work night excuse is bogus. As a coach/player/organization it's a slap in the face from fans when they come out to watch the opposing team, and not the team that has been playing its ass off for the last month. There's no reason for less than 20,000 fans being there for the rest of the season.

what kind of percentage is there to division games vs other games?

67.7% Division
32.3% Other

Or 21 out of 31 vs division.
It's 47% over the whole season, 76 out of 162. 66 other intraleague games and 24 interleague games.
:adios:

Wrong. Elegant call. Let's the moment come through and doesn't make it about him.

oscar related?

 :D

This is a little reminiscent of the #13 Cats (23-5) playing in front of a half full Bramlage vs. Texas Tech on a weeknight two years ago. Who gives an eff who you are playing when your team is kicking ass.

go listen to him call the final out of game 7 back in 85.

then make a fist and punch yourself with it.

Those are good points Townie. The fan turn out for the Yankees the night before does make it a lot worse. 20K on weeknights should be the standard no matter who the Roys play from now on. And near sellouts on weekends.

This. Good grief. After 30 years of calling baseball games, you don't give an eff anymore. Try doing a whole season. Woof!

The attendance was horrible, but there are a list of things that can play into that and for each person and family it is different.

1)  Royals the past 30 years, fans are worried we will fall on our face once again.
2)  Weeknight and now also a school night
3)  Heat
4)  Location (nothing in the area but the stadium, nowhere to have post victory shenanigans)
5)  Ticket/Parking Prices

I think location is a huge factor.  Attendance average this year I think has been up, but I personally would be more motivated to go to a game if it was downtown (especially during the weeknights).  The location now is horrible to say the least.

Do Twins fans like Bert Blyleven?  Unlike most of twitter, I didn't mind him last night. He seemed to be well prepared, but was kind of dry. I think that would bother me throughout the whole season. Maybe it's just the opposite of Hud. :dunno:

More good points.

FWIW, atendance per game is at 23,443 right now per game, that is the best per game ave. since 1994 (23,737 per).

the school night argument is just the worst. i have no problem with what Ned said. it probably won't help though because people love to get butthurt and entitled, and i'm sure Ned is going to get skewered on the radio today by other people who also like to get butthurt/entitled
