True stories from tonight:
* My companions, also frequenters of this blog, encouraged HOF hitter and Twins first base coach Paul Molitor to take his proper position within the coaching box until he finally, in the eighth inning, briefly did so, with a sly grin in our direction as he hopped back out.
* After one of my companions told stud/boss and Royals first-base coach Rusty Kuntz in the middle of the 9th not to worry about it because we were going to walk off, he pointed our direction 3 separate times after this guarantee was fulfilled.
* As Alex walked up to bat, I nearly told my companions that I would buy their tickets for tonight's game if he hit a walk-off. Then I decided I would enjoy the walk-off a lot more if I wasn't $150 poorer as a result. I think I made the right call.
* We finally got Alex to smile as he waited to be interviewed after the game. My goodness.
