Staying in the zone is a Mittie thing. He plays the 2-3 as a primary defense like the Baylor and Syracuse men. He does not have the team to run it the way he wants though, we aren't long and athletic enough. Skilled teams will kill us. ISU was able to get the ball right in the middle of the zone and that absolutely kills you, especially with a team like ISU who likes to spread you and hit threes. Playing a 3-2 could have helped with that some but its obvious that we have not worked on that. To make matters worse is tha when we finally went man it was obvious we hadn't worked on that either because we had the worst man principles I've ever seen in a D1 game, men or women.
Lewis and Martin are the only players I see fitting in the long term plans of this team. But even with Martin and Lewis I'll be interested in seeing what their role will be when the sisters come. If all four of them start at the 2, 3, 4, and 5 we'll be longer and more athletic than we've been since the big 4. I thought we'd see more of Jones, Sheble, and Young but they really haven't played at all.
