What positions are they? 3? 4?

Yes they are both forwards who can shoot and are freak athletes. Also don't be too freaked out about Kaylee not playing at Nebraska, they are stacked. In Lanie's class they got 3 top 100 players, 2 from NEKS. At least Deb was a finalist for these girls. Bonnie didn't have a shot, Lanie even had Tech as her 3rd finalist and they just tonight broke a 25 game Big 12 losing streak. Bonnie should have been getting anyone out of this state she wants but she is :flush: There are and always have been good girls players in Kansas and Bonnie has not done well here. If Mittie can do well in Kansas and keep using his Texas ties we'll be fine.

I've seen them play quite a bit. They have good handles, and are very skilled, but I didn't see them as outstanding athletes even at the 4A high school level. I'm not trying to under-sell them either. They definitely stood out as players, but compared to people like Ohlde, Wecker and even Anne Weese, from Sacred Heart in Salina who went to Notre Dame, their athleticism didn't wow me. Bishop-Meige blasted them in the title game last year and the athletic difference was palpable.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

i was going to say the same thing about the athletic difference, definitely palpable.  like, 100% palpable.

Probably shouldn't do this but when evaluating women's basketball players, especially ones from Kansas I use athleticism as a euphemism for skill and versatility.

Makes sense.

"Palpable" is a great word. Its greatness is palpable. (No knock, nic...you used it well).

I'm terrible at dishing out punishment, but am pretty good at warding off potential attacks. I'd be terrible in a fight.

I really don't know how KU lost that game. I have never seen a team in a zone give up so much dribble penetration. KU would routinely get to the free throw line on penetration and then do something incredibly stupid with the ball instead of taking a jump shot.

What's the reason there are so many very good female players from KS?

I honestly think its because we've played WCBB and 5 on 5 at the prep level for longer than most. Both KU and KSU have very good histories going way back and I think that has helped develop good girls basketball in the state, similar to volleyball in Nebraska & wrestling in Iowa. Just an incredibly unscientific theory I've long held.

Loving this squad. Admittedly this is my first game of the year. But I'll come back for more games. 35-37 ISU at half.

Are we back to the early 2000s where there was a better crowd for women's games than men's?

No. I remember those packed houses. Tonight is aided by it being dollar night I feel. I think this team has the potential to get it back there though.
