My husband and I have been watching K-State WBB since Nicole Ohlde days. Coach P has had her ups and downs through the years. This season was pretty tough but there were quite a few freshmen, especially after a few key injuries that sidelined our point guard. I figure next year to be awesome but if we lose a coach and staff...I now wonder. I hope whatever happens, it is the best thing for the team.

she should have been fired for cause after the Star's piece years ago about her unethical practices surrounding religion and the team

This should relieve some (if not all) worries that Currie will be overly patient with oscar Weber (if he ever needs to be). IMHO.

I heard she made a girl play all season after the doctor's told her early in the season she was at risk for a serious injury if she didn't sit out for a while. Source A

I guess I don't know how I feel about that since I feel confident in saying it happens in men's sports all the time, especially football. But good grief, even Massa Seff sat Embiid.

No I don't think that happens very much, if it were the players choice that's different than the coach deciding that for her.

I wanted Deb to have one more year, but I can't be too mad about this. I'm firmly in the hire Shalee camp, if she doesn't get the job I hope the new coach keeps her. Hiring her as the head coach would energize the fan base, without a doubt.

either you don't remember what Michele Voepel reported or you don't know what the word unethical means

Deb will retire here and that's fine. KSU WBB has a nice fan base and decent success over her career. As barely a nominal WBB fan I can live with that.

Man, that was a great post.  :buh-bye:

I know this is a WBB thread but I really - really am encouraged by this move by Currie as it may relate to the eventual football coach hiring process.  He could easily have let the situation slide but instead moved boldly, IMO.

Deb seems very polarizing. Not sure what to believe.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

I agree about Shalee. If anybody in the WBB program bleeds purple, it's her. She would indeed energize the fan base and she's an outstanding recruiter. I'd like to see him roll the dice on her relatively short coaching career and put her in charge.
