Wearing a K-State hat when he entered the All American Room at SCCC/ATS, Jeremy Jones left no suspense to his signing ceremony.  Seward County Saints Jeremy Jones signed a national letter of intent to play basketball next year for Frank Martin at Kansas State in Manhattan.  Jones made the announcement during a ceremony in the All-American Room at SCCC Wednesday afternoon.  Jones led Seward to the Jayhawk West Championship and a runner up finish in the Region this past year.  Dozens of major universities courted the guard from Chicago before he narrowed it down to two earlier this week.  Houston was the other finalist.

An complete interview with Jones can be heard tommorrow morning on 'The Sportsguys' between 7:37 and 9 am on 1270 KSCB AM.

Of course, Kelly topped off his coaches words with a familiar garnish. When the departing forward was asked about the offseason feeling surrounding the roster, he pointed out that departures are a part of every big-time program.

"Some people are going to move in and some people are going to move out," Kelly said, before using his final sentence to draw a last laugh.

"I don't know what's going to happen, but I pray for each and every one of them," he said.

Top-50 point guard prospect Chris Jones of Memphis will not attend Tennessee and instead will enroll in a junior college, The Commercial Appeal reported.

Jones’ coach at Melrose High, Jermaine Johnson, told the newspaper that Jones will play for former Tennessee assistant Steve Forbes at Northwest Florida State College, where Forbes accepted the head coaching job in early April.

"He can concentrate on getting better mentally and physically," Johnson said.

Ranked No. 39 among class of 2011 prospects by Rivals.com, Jones had talked about escaping his letter of intent after Tennessee fired coach oscar Pearl in March but later said he would join the Vols.

Whether he’ll be at Northwest Florida for one or two seasons would depend upon whether he graduates from Melrose as a full academic qualifier under NCAA rules. The Commercial Appeal reported there were questions about whether Jones would meet the required standards to be eligible to play Division I basketball as a freshman.

Just a hunch here but I would guess he is referencing the period in K-State B-Ball history in which Lon Kruger mailed it in with recruiting during his final year(s)

What made you choose K-State?

I just liked the whole coaching staff, and I have a close relationship with Curtis Kelly and Shane Southwell. And I also built a good relationship with Frank Martin when I reached out to him when I was changing schools.

So you reached out to him when you knew you were going to transfer from St. John’s

No, he actually called me. The staff called me. Frank and Brad Underwood were the main guys who recruited me. They’re both good guys.

anyone remember the game this year when frank yelled at 'te for giving him a pop?  'te's handing out beverages to the staff after a timeout like a waiter and he hands frank a soda...frank looks at him, get's pissed and says "no, I wanted the f'ing water".
