Asava is the only one doing coffee right in this thread, I'm not shocked by this.

as a set up and I am officially addicted. really not that difficult to make on a day to day basis. incredible flavor. no bitterness. no need for sugar or cream. seriously, you should try it. best coffee of my life.

oddly correct in kc is where i get my beans from. those guys know what they are doing.

Do they serve their anti establishment coffee beans in skinny packages? ZING, o man, got you good Asava!

K but seriously, how long does that take every morning? I'm rocking the standard $20 drip coffee maker from walmart but typically grind my own beans before hand. The whole boiling water thing just seems like it takes to much time.

Usually a little under 10 minutes. I use an electric water boiler to speed things up.

Any one have any experience with a Nespresso machine?

Used a Krupps machine with Nespresso cartridges in Italy. It was delightful.

Really, really close to pulling the trigger, but still have concerns about durability and stuff.

get an espresso machine.  even a cheap one that espresso snobs would tell you doesn't really make espresso.  or get a stove top italian coffee maker.  i use a machine now, and the coffee is better, but sometimes i miss the ritual of of the stove top.

i don't think what you really like is the krupps brand or the cartridge system.  i think you liked the espresso/concentrated pressure-extracted coffee style.

took a while to get past the taste of metal, but once it became seasoned it tasted good. Does anybody do this?

Interested in thoughts on daily use. Can see wanting to do it a couple times a week, but for a daily driver it has its limitations.

my hipster bro in law has one that he used to travel with.  never see him use it anymore after he got a keurig

I used to use one of these every morning, it was nice because you could grind your coffee up the night before (Step one to good coffee precedes the machine, and its using fresh ground coffee) and fill up the mocha pot then put it in the fridge overnight.  In the morning before i'd hop in the shower, i'd just toss that baby on the stove and by the time i was done itd be just about boiled out.

After a while the seal wears out and the metal container that holds the grounds can warp, so it doesn't work quite as well.  I keep it as a camping coffee maker, to take backpacking.

Right now i've been an Aerobie Aeropress like my man 8pick.  It just makes a damn good cup.  A mocha pot is more similar to espresso and has more body, but the flavor profile of the Aeropress is just hard to beat.

Has anyone used a Bodum Bistro?

FreundinSonntag has a Keurig, so i drink probably 1/3 of my morning coffee from one.  i've never had a K-cup that tasted good (don't tell her that), let alone could fool me into thinking it was from any of the above machines.   :th_twocents:

Asava, you should look for a pour over filter that is metal and get rid of that paper filter(looks paper in the pic).  Paper absorbs a bunch of the oils that make awesome coffee awesome so the awesomeness gets caught in the filter and doesn't make the cup.

Quality of coffee is much more important than brewing method. JMHO.

A regular grinder has blades like a blender, and a burr grinder has two hard smasher things similar to milling grain. My understanding is that a burr grinder gives you a uniform and adjustable particle size
