They could be up by 7 right now if Haley would have just kicked that field goal.

Thank you Oakland, Wow.

Haley has cost us too many points this season by going for it on every 4th and 1 or 2 inside the 50. I can't stand his 4th down decisions.

Thank god SD lost today. We'll still probably find a way to lose the division.

If you went through all of KC's fourth-down calls and added up the overall plus or minus points, you'd find that Haley actually hasn't cost the Chiefs any points on the scoreboard. You are only remembering the fourth-down calls that don't work even though there are plenty that have worked.

The ones that do work—like the 4th-and-1 call against Cleveland near midfield that allowed the Chiefs to escape with a walk-off win, or the TWO fourth-downs the Chiefs converted on the opening drive against Houston that led to a opening drive TD, or the 4th-and-1 from the Jaguars 2-yard line that allowed the Chiefs to score a TD rather than settle for a field goal, or the fake punt on fourth against San Francisco that extended a drive and caused Singletary's head to explode, or the 4th-and-1 the Chiefs converted against Buffalo that allowed Succop to kick a chip shot field goal rather than a 48-yard field goal into swirling wind, and so on—never get mentioned.

The Chiefs have run the ball more on 3rd-and-4 than any team in the league. Defenses are forced to play on their heels and to expect the run or the pass on any 3rd down situation, knowing full well that the Chiefs are willing to line up and go for it on fourth if they fall just short. This certainly opens things up for Cassel in the passing game on 3rd and manageable situations. It also makes the Chiefs unpredictable and difficult to prepare for. Teams can't just rush the passer and expect a pass in "passing situations." They need to respect the running game.

'Unconventional' has allowed the Chiefs to play loose and aggressive all season, and has helped them get to 8-4 and a two-game lead in the AFC West.

We shall see.  The Chiefs are a healthy DB and Safety from being a top 3ish team in the league.  If the Chiefs piss-pound Denver as they should the line will open around 3.5 I believe. Of course there's no accounting for the vast amounts of people who bet after watching sportscenter, and their affect on lines.

The Chiefs played poorly and eeked by Denver, winning 10-6 at home.
San Diego turned in one of its worst efforts of the season, losing at home to Oakland by 15 points.

And ...

Chargers open as 7-point favorites against the Chiefs.

One- DNR half this thread.  Two- How much does Haley call the plays as compared to Weis?  I would assume Weis would demand a decent amount of play call selection before he took the job.  Just saying.

7-4 is feeling pretty good right now.  :gocho:

If the Chargers beat the Chiefs in San Diego—they'll be favored by 7 points—then they'll be in the driver's seat to win the division.

If the Chargers are favored by 7 points, the Chiefs will have lost to denver by 21+.  That's not going to happen.  More like 3 points.

lol

It's probably because the fans/sports bettor people didn't get a chance to see the ESPN highlights of the games.

Otherwise the spread would easily be Chargers by 3.

I have a feeling we will go 2-2 in the next 4 games and SD will win out and win the division.

How strong is that feeling? I'll bet you 2-to-1 the Chiefs win the division and make the playoffs.

Do you at least stand by your earlier statements in this thread that Todd Haley is a dumbass and Charlie Weis sucks?

If so, let me remind you that Haley's Chiefs are 8-4 and first in the west (despite Vegas and idiots in this thread predicting they'd win six games all season), and Weis's offense is ranked 7th in the NFL and is led by Matt Cassel, who has a 23-to-4 TD:INT ratio and 99.5 QB rating.

Or is Cassel still not "fixed?"

7 wins are reasonable with an improved running game to take some pressure off of Cassel.
