Some of these posters think you just go out and get a hall of fame QB and the Chiefs have been choosing not to.

They certainly aren't choosing to roll the dice on draft picks for them.

1983 draft. 7th overall pick. dan marino and jim kelly on the board.

we all know what happened next.  :frown:

2005 draft. 15th overall pick. aaron rodgers on the board.

we all know what happened next  :frown:

now do the russ wilson one

2012 draft. 74th pick overall. russell wilson on the board.

the chiefs select: donald stephenson - "A highly athletic, undisciplined college left tackle who waited until his senior season for the light to flicker and opened some eyes at the Combine. Has clear starting-caliber athletic traits, but must prove that he is willing to work, commit himself to the game and will not cash out mentally after a big pay day. Developmental zone blocker."

with the 75th pick the seattle seahawks select...  :frown:

There are people that think QB is a problem next year?  Or am I misreading this?

Draft pics aren't for drafting quarterbacks tho, they are for trading for the 49ers backup (or the Rams or Patriots!).

Ehhh, Trent Green and Smith have been pretty good, but overall, yeah, I'd agree.

Smith is fine for this year. Take our 6-10, and move on is 2015.

He definitely doesn't deserve anywhere near what he's asking for in terms of cash even though he was good.  I'm not sure we have a better option for 2015 though.

2011 draft. 26th overall pick. colin kaepernick on the board.

the chiefs select: wr jonathan baldwin. loser.

incidentally, the chiefs would then select rodney hudson with their 2nd rd pick, 3 picks later torrey smith became a baltimore raven. 6 picks after that randall cobb became a green bay packer.

2001 draft. 12th overall pick. drew brees the 2nd rated qb in the draft behind michael vick. brees went 32nd overall.

chiefs traded the pick to st louis for trent green.  :frown:

"New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees joined the show to talk about the Draft and more. Here are some of Brees’ takes:

– Brees did not go to New York for the Draft because he didn’t want to get stuck waiting around. He did hear two teams were looking at him in the first round: “The Dolphins. I believe they chose 24 or 26. And at one point it was the Chiefs, but they ended up trading for Trent Green right before.”

lets not forget, russ wasn't the only acceptable choice in that round.

with the 88th pick the philadelphia eagles select, qb nick foles

one time we got some other team's washed up backup and he was actually pretty good. maybe not win a super bowl good, but for certain win a playoff game good.

wr is probably the chiefs weakest position right now and it is absolutely astounding how many wr's the chiefs have missed on.

in 2011. they take baldwin and hudson with kaepernick and then both torrey smith and randall cobb still available. last year they took travis kelce 13 picks before the chargers took keenan allen. in 2012 they took jeff allen the pick before the bears took alshon jeffrey.

wow. just awful.  :flush:

A lot of that has to do with the QB/WR combination.  i.e. is Jerry Rice the best WR ever without Montana and Young and is Montana and Young the same without Jerry Rice.  Could have been Torrey Smith and Randall Cobb go to Cheifs and end up like Kelce and Allen because of how bad the QB/passing game is. Smith is not going to win a super bowl with almost any WR in the game today without a lockdown D and a great running game.  They could have the running game as is but the D has a vast improvement to make.

These are rough ridin' dumb. Everybody missed on these guys. Also, Chiefs have drafted a few shitty QBs in the last 10 years that never panned out. I'm sure you all wanted Geno Smith too. Woof!

The Chiefs draft shitty QBs in the later rounds where the odds of them panning out are slim to none.

this is exhibit A of the top 10 reasons that j-dub needs to be mod of the chiefs thread. it's time for a revolution.

yeah sure Dom Dwyer scores lots of goals, BUT SOMETIMES HE TAKES SHOTS THAT ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE GOAL! Lesson learned: never take shots because sometimes they are bad shots. CASE CLOSED.

i mean yeah, sure, Nelson Cruz is leading the major leagues with 21 home runs so far. BUT HE HAS STRUCK OUT 58 TIMES!  :runaway: THAT'S ALMOST THREE TIMES AS MANY! Lesson learned: never swing because you might strike out. CASE CLOSED.
