What does everyone think of Alex Smith?

Anyways, who cares. Last night was awful. It's going to be a long season.
This is quite a different tune from week 1!

It's difficult being a Chiefs fan.  Will we ever see a playoff win?  My guess is probably not.

I would bet the Chiefs win a playoff game at some point over the next 5 years. If they change their draft philosophy, they probably win a super bowl at some point over the next 15 years.

since you want to talk royals in the chiefs thread, i'd love to. the royals were great from 75-85, good from 86-94, and bad from 95 on, bottoming out in 2004-2006 being the worst.

How'd they fix it? Organizational shift. They began valuing things they hadn't prior to 2006. Scouting, Latin American signings, trading players to build depth, athleticism, hard throwing relievers, drafting based on talent not sign-ability, optimism, valuing things other teams devalued (contact hitting, speed) and spending money in free agency. It took too long IMO, and there were some dumb speed bumps (Trey Hillman, Jose Guillen, etc) but they got it done. It took some luck in October last year, but they got it done.

The Chiefs refuse to become modern and change. They refuse to value the draft, value quarterback play, and refuse to hire anything but retread coaches.

I am a Chiefs fan, I want them to play well and win, but they never NEVER change. Never.
I agree with a lot of this and will add the Royals have benefited from the reduction of PEDs as the yin to the yang of the Chiefs refusal to find the young QB like the vast majority of the NFL.

The Royals had a great deal of good fortune from around August 2013 til now. I won't argue that.

Ok :dunno:

That they're 1-3 on this season is much more telling of anything

jamaal averaged nearly 7 yards per carry today.

andy decided that since he was doing so well he'd only give it to him 11 times.

the chiefs were really efficient this year in making me hate them. last year they won 5 straight after starting 2-3, let's see if they can do the same this year.

I can't believe KC is being divided by which KC team they like more.
I think it's the disgusting losers that yell "CHIIIEEEFFFSSS" during the national anthem at the K.  Makes everyone want them to lose.
