I love Joe Burrow, he is the stereotypical cocky jock/rich guy villian from every movie.

Burrow would be the son of the developer who buys a community ski slope and kicks all the locals off it, then burrow would challenge some local dork to a race.

I’d have much rather lost to Buffalo since that was an exciting game wire to wire with both QBs playing to their potential.

This one we really had no business losing. The only consolation is that losing in the AFC title game keeps a pretty amazing streak going of at least playing for a SB spot for 4 years in a row.

The next few years will basically determine whether this dynasty looks more like the Patriots or the Packers over the last 10 years or so.

This is a spot on observation imo.

Yeah, I'm not a huge Chiefs fan at all but the game made me sick/upset. They played themselves out of the game.

I really think given the talent of Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Jackson, et al it will be very hard for the Chiefs to keep being the "team". As long as Mahomes is around of course they will have plenty of chances, but Josh Allen is going to get his at some point, Burrow has his chance in two weeks and more coming. I do hope though this make them even more hungry than last year's SB loss.

My legit biggest concern is keeping the defense up to date and Kelce's age will start to play a factor soon. I think the Chiefs have a few season to solve and keep solving problems, but to me how many rings Mahomes has will be directly related to the support cast they can give him. Of course that's obvious I just it sits in the back of my mind. Regardless, Mahomes is still electric, and even that second half and OT can't be held too much against him it's not like he literally a week ago pull the same set of miracles off, it just caught up to them.

pat did something i've never seen before which is dominate for a half and then crater completely in the 2nd half. sucks

when they kept dropping 8 and we were too proud to run, it was a recipe for disaster.  I don't get it.

This seems like an extreme oversimplification of why we lost.  If anything mahomes should have ran more in the second half.

Yes, the afc playoffs are going to be a gauntlet every year and no matter how good you are the odds of getting through multiple years in a row are very low, that’s what makes this hurt even more.

I'm still the least scared of Burrow and the Bengals of all the new top flight AFC teams/QBs

Pump up Mahomes as the "humble Midwest good guy" who says all the right things and Burrow as the "Ivan Drago swag master" villian. Boom, the AFC storyline for the next 10 years.

and IRL hungover and I'm right there with you.  I had let games stop bothering me but yesterday snuck up on me.  Woke up at 1am replaying plays.

Yeah I think the worst part of yesterday is you assume your best player can’t always overcome poor team performance, but in this one our best player just mentally broke down in the second half. He was trying not to lose since the third quarter.

This is my opinion only, but I think 2021 will be looked at as the year Mahomes grew to another level as a NFL QB.  I'm excited for the offseason.  A chip-on-shoulder Patrick who understands the game better than he ever has could make for an amazing 2022 season.

Was discussing this with a guy at work, I tend to agree (I hope). Losing in the SB last year sucked but there was something I think more about this year losing in the championship game this year that felt way way worse (probably because we were running the table with the Bengals ands then just lost it). Also, I think they still got somewhat complacent this yearly obviously early on, but then vs Cincy too. I think they really learned than nothing less than their A game is going  to bring it home, and they learned to be more patient and not always go for the HR ball. I hope it works out next season.

It's going to be tougher to add players to this roster as Mahome's cap hit is going to jump significantly.  I think getting to the Super Bowl this season would have gone a long way to getting quality veterans searching for a ring but we'll see.

If we need to, we can convert Mahomes's roster bonus money into signing bonus money and spread it out over the next 5 years. The cap is going to go up significantly in the near future with how much the NFL is getting for its media rights deals starting in 2023. Mahomes's percentage of the cap is not going to be that high once the cap goes up.

His cap hit (total dollars) gets pretty ridiculous the next few years if we continue to convert his full salary but I'm not sure what the expectation is with the media rights deal.

We need to land on a receiver in this draft.
