Ive been thinking about this and was curious what others thought. Preface, this is a gross generalization & kind of an incoherent rant about the NIL:
Referencing the big money NIL deal players: How the heck does a coach motivate a player to do better / work harder if they are making millions of dollars and there really is no threat of them loosing their starting spot? Donors want to see their money utilized on the field and not riding the bench..... So how do you get what you need out of these guys if there is the threat of them hitting the transfer portal and getting millions at a different school...? Who was the CB that checked out during the ISU game last year and then moved on to Oregon? Speaking of Oregon, Cure was just at Oregon again on another visit......... Dollars and cents are motivating these guys, not the threat of playing time.
I, like some others, thought that Roberson should come in a take over for Avery. I have zero inside info on the inner thoughts in Averys head, but how do you keep a guy like that from hitting the transfer portal if he just needs "more work"...?
I dont like feeling like my team is being held hostage by big money NIL guys and their assumed starting position that comes with it.
