Iowa HC’s Idiot Kid Thread
« on: September 13, 2023, 10:08:29 AM »
So, many of you may already be aware of this, but I recently learned that the Iowa HC has an idiot kid who serves as his OC, and like every rough ridin' Iowa fan in the universe hates the kids guts…AND, the AD stepped in and added requirements to the idiot kid’s contract that Iowa must average 25 points a game this year or the kid gets less money and gets crap canned.

The story is here:

https://www.thegazette.com/iowa-football/how-often-college-football-programs-meet-goals-iowa-gave-brian-ferentz-for-2023/

Anyway, there is an X app account that tracks this saga.

every failson should have measurable requirements like this to retain the position. also defensive and special teams points better not count.

I am now subscribed and expect weekly updates ITT

Ferentz has been such an odd case. Their ceiling has always just been a little higher than Iowa State, yet he’s got to be one of the longest tenured coaches in the P5 if not college football.

Can't find it now but either sickos or no context is using the alp climber game from price is right to track the points and it's rough ridin' perfect

I also enjoyed them talking about it on pardon my take today,  and they're no optimistic on him making it. He's already off pace and when Big Cat said "with Wisconsin and Minnesota still on the schedule I see those as being 12-9 games so he's going to need to pick it up" I couldn't help but laugh on the plane at how accurate that is.

I bet chingon can mod hack this place to automatically do that. I mean, I know he can, I'm not confident he will though.

I know how PPG work, but this might be what I've laughed at the hardest. 44 points through 2 games, and 7 of them created by the D.

One more defensive touchdown in the first 2 games and he'd be on pace for it!

Is 25 ppg some arbitrary number or is it like the threshold for a top 25 offense?

I hope he has one of those like fundraiser thermometer poster boards somewhere in the football offices that he colors in a little after each game.

Titled something like "Help me reach my goal!"

That's the best/worst part - 25 ppg is not good. Last year, 25 ppg would have ranked 78th in the country.

If he had a decent agent he would’ve had Iowa_FAN come up with some advanced metric that took in to account the glacial pace.

"If you stuck around for the final minutes here in Lincoln, you're in for a treat.  Iowa leads Nebraska 37-14 and just called a timeout to set up a surprisingly crucial 2-point conversion with 3 seconds left on the clock.  Brian Ferentz's job is on the line with this conversion.  They line up in the I formation from the two and here comes the snap.  And the play is blown dead, false start on the offense so we'll do it again from the seven."

I would definitely change the channel to watch this if it happened.

I see no scenario in which Kirk fires his own kid under any circumstance.  If they force Brian out Kirk is going too.
