Potato Salad; buy the giant Sam's Club tub and then add your own hard boiled eggs for that homemade taste.  :th_twocents:

Using course Kosher salt and course black pepper makes grabbing a pinch much easier. Imo course salt also tastes batter.

At the Nicname house, we don’t even use salt or pepper shakers. Just grab a pinch from a ramekin and sprinkle on our food. Much more efficient and fun!
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

When toasting bread for sandwiches & grilled cheese, always mayo, never butter.

this topic has been adjudicated several times over. The only people who don't cook it in the oven are mongos who are too proud to try it and admit that it is the superior method across every possible metric. And to see those people triple down on their position is really quite something.

I’m quadrupling down that on the grill is tops.  No grease or pans to clean up.  No smells in the house.

see this is exactly what i'm talking about. With every word it became more and more abundantly clear that what tdaver is saying is  "I have never actually attempted to cook bacon in the oven and everything i'm saying is purely conjecture"

I've tried oven bacon and don't think it's as good as a skillet. Do you use a rack or no?

Most restaurant bacon is oven cooked on a sheet tray

Oven bacon is fantastic and far superior to all bacon unless you like to burn the crap out of your bacon. Then, it doesn’t matter, just burn your bacon however you like.

I just do it directly on a sheet pan. The trick is to put it in a cold oven and bring it up to temp. The thing is that whether you do stovetop or oven you’re still frying the bacon (cooking in its own fat). Oven just allows you to do more at once, cook more evenly, and reduce the risk of burning.

I always use cheese straight off the block, wouldn't trust it any other way.

For perfectly cooked and peelable hard boiled eggs

Place them in water already boiling and let go for 12 minutes

Then into cold water bath. Then fridge

Shell will fall off and yolks will be bright yellow

Want soft boiled for Ramen?

6 and a half minutes. Same process

I found a boiled egg timer last year. Never knew they existed before. It’s a little thing you put in with the eggs that tells you when they are soft, med, hard boiled. Game changer. Jammy eggs 24/7 perfectly.  :surprised:

pretty sad i'm even having to mention this but if you're worried about cleanup with oven bacon then just line your sheet pan with aluminum foil first. Also makes it easier to drain the grease if you keep your bacon grease (which you absolutely should, #COOKINGHACK)
