Giving Tang 100% of the credit for this is hilarious and unsurprising.

Gotta hand it to one person for stopping the chant: Jerome Tang.

Hello, this week's chant is THROW TO CATS. I believe that without the clarification that 9AM would just throw 5-6 interceptions to the other team. We need completed passes to the Cat's before we can worrying about throwing to the other team.

9AM is going to hear that and just think it's confirmation to not ever throw it deep

This thing is dumb- but the frat boy edgy “band kids are nerds so eff” them takes from dudes in their 40s has a big uncle Rico vibe. You guys know you’re middle aged, right?
I’m sorry that you’re offended that people don’t really like marching bands. It’s been decided, though.

I’m 100% on the record of saying that getting rid of the marching band would not hurt the game day experience at all.

a lot's been made about length of games in the last week or so, and it has increased by about 15 minutes over the last few years.  i think the best options would be, in the following order (though maybe not realistic):

1.  Figure out a way to cut down on commercials.  It's absurd.  Unbelievable that ESPN+ (which is functionally a PPV option) has 3:10 ad breaks as often as it does.  Probably not realistic, but that's where the most ire should go.

2.  Video reviews.  Unbelievably inefficient.  First, adopt NFL challenge rules.  No reason every single play needs to be reviewed.  If a team wants to take a swing at a challenge on a particular play, that's when it should happen.  Second, am I correct that the white hat is still actually going over to the little box and watching the play?  If so, why?  Get an official from a central location (or up in the pressbox if you want) and let them be the Replay official and when it's time to review, have him look at the tv already in front of his face with all the controls and make the call, which he can transmit down to the white hat via telecom.  There's ostensibly already a guy who watches ever replay anyway (since every play is reviewed).  It's such an antiquated system to have the white hat jog sometimes 80 yards, so he can replay the play on a teensy tiny television.  Then jog back.  It's the future guys.  Let's use the tech we have to delegate

3.  I imagine halftime could be cut a little bit while still allowing ample time for the band to do its thing.  Maybe not.

Anyway, I think 1 and 2 are the biggest culprits, and since the TV ghouls need to pay for their exorbitant contracts somehow, 1 is probably not very realistic.  With that in mind, let's see if we can cut down on the number of reviews and get them resolved in 30 seconds or so using the magic of telephones.

Without hyperbole, this is incredibly silly. Without the band you have maybe even worse than an NFL atmosphere. Thing about the band, at K-State and everywhere else, is without playing a single note they effect the atmosphere because they are the lead for the crowd noise.

I don't want this to get nasty, because you definitely shouldn't be able to express all opinion without getting shouted down, but I really have to wonder if someone thinks bands don't effect the atmosphere if they ever go to games or went to games as a student.

I'm pro-band. I also don't see why halftime needs to run as long as it does. The band goes out there and plays 4 or 5 songs. Just have them play 2 or 3 instead.

They don't, it's a silly argument. The length of halftime is dictated by football rules and they aren't considering what bands want. Coaches want 20 minute halftimes, they aren't asking band directors. If halftime were 15 minutes bands would still play and be fine.

It doesn't. Went to the Chiefs game against the Chargers and the Mizzou band played, somehow they managed to fit it all in. It's just the "I argue with youth umpires" crowd doing their cool kid act.

The halftime tailgater crowd doesn't come back in time for the start of the 3rd quarter, anyway.
