Wonder if this kid is offspring from Casey Seifert, shot putting legend. May be time for the Cats to tap into that Beloit pipeline that gave us Travis Litton, Jay Heidrick and Gene Keady.

What positions do you remove in 8-man? Lineman and two skill players? Two lineman one skill?

Must have five players lined up on the line of scrimmage - Center, two guards and two TEs was most common when I played, sometimes one or two TEs are split out as WRs but this was more of a gimmick when I played. The most elite 8-man teams were focused on running the ball when I played but that may have evolved some in 25 yrs. Normally a QB and two RBs in the backfield - line up in a "T" or "I" formation. Sometimes one of the RBs could be lined up as a "flanker" or split out wide. Basically, there are no tackles and just 2 RBs. Lots of possible defensive alignments 3-4-1 or 4-3-1 were the most common when I played. Very important to have defensive ends who can hold the edge or the defense will get torched (I guess this holds true in 11man, too but maybe moreso with less players on the field).

We had a formation where we split the ends and running backs out wide (2 on each side of the field).  It was usually a quick pass (think bubble screen) or a QB run.

White City Huskies were very focused on passing back in the day.  They had a QB that passed for all kinds of yards but they were soft defensively. Kind of like the Texas Tech of 8-man football.

The Cougars! Didn't O-B play 11-man for a while in the 80s/90s or are they a long-time 8-man school?

White City is south of Junction City. They had the most disgusting visitors' locker room I have ever entered. Possibly the original fixtures from the 1920s. I think they have combined with Hope for sports and are now known as "Rural Vista."

We only played 8 man (I think we played one 11 man JV game for shits and giggles).  I graduated in 93 and I don't remember them playing 11 man before then.  I think sometime after I graduated they played a few seasons of 11 man, but are back in 8.

Looks like lots of KS playoff games have been moved up to tonite due to the threat of rain tomorrow.

Meade is playing Quinter tonight in the 8 man playoffs. My score prediction (not gE'ing here) is Meade 64 Quinter 12.

They’ve really restructured the classes. New 3A is only the largest of large 3A and like half of the old 4A.

Beloit is 3A for all but football.

All sports —   https://www.kshsaa.org/Public/General/Classifications.cfm

Football —   https://www.kshsaa.org/Public/Football/PDF/FootballClassifications-2021.pdf

Football only counts 10-12th grades. All sports counts 9-12th.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I'm going to throw elite TX high school football in here.   Prosper was ranked #5 in the state at the end of the season.  Won their first game of the playoffs 28-3 and dropped to 9th.   :shakesfist:

Big game tonight against South Grand Prairie.  We may have to travel to west Texas next week if we win.  :sdeek:

Before today, I had never heard Wamego referred to as "Boom Town". Can someone with elite NE Kansas insider status fill me in?

Seems like Boom Town is more a reference of the football team and not the town.

There was a movie set in Wamego called "Firecracker".

Referred to as boom town because of the massive 4th of July firework show.

They are proud of their fourth of July fireworks show.  I went to a couple of them and they were close to the size of Topeka's show.  They used to advertise the crap out of it, and IIRC they used the term "boom town" when describing it.
Hot time in Kat town tonight.
