What SHOULD drive the levels of state’s gdp?  What trades or products are more important than our national security in a country that claims to be the land of the free and the home of brave?

It can be both at the same time, right? It’s certainly both. I’d argue that whatever our top industry was, it would be rife with grift…that’s where grifters go.

Pete - we built a massive military prior to 9-11, then the  #neocons opened the taps even more  and the office parks around DC filled to the brim with hogs lining up at the trough.

I do appreciate that you openly support the grift

I don’t condone the grift. I merely accept it.

isn't the population of DC like the same as omaha? honestly I'm shocked the $ is that low given the only thing that goes on there is federal government and lobbying. seems like people should be making more money there given the importance (to our society and to corporations).

Agree. Another good example “if not them, then who deserves it more?” If the Bay Area were a state, it might have eclipsed DC at many points over the last 30 years.

Nothing is going to stop #neocongE from deflecting people away from the grift

I'm really confused by this whole thing dax. like, DC is a highly concentrated place with 1 industry. that number seems kinda puny to me given what that industry is. maybe you think differently but I'd be curious to hear why. like, people there don't deliver amazon packages and grubhub and whatever. not that those aren't important jobs, my burrito needs an uber for eff sakes, but just saying it doesn't seem strange to me.

Why are you always so dense?

It’s all built around a perpetual war economy, and a massive bureaucratic complex.
