Every American hero of the last 80 years (or more) has despised Russia.

If someone likes Russia, they are un-American.  That’s all there is to it.

I do not think there is an overwhelming majority of Americans who want to fund this for infinity.  I think the plan was stop the orcs (successful) and now they are just stuck in place grinding up the orc olds/pedos.  Eventually putin will die and someone new will come in and possibly reach an accord.

the idea that russia would view losing a few hundred k soldiers (many criminals, drunks and ukrainian nationals) in exchange for taking eastern ukraine as a loss is pretty delusional, imo.

meanwhile, the united states in the last few years will have reneged on a treaty with iran, abandoned the kurds, abandoned our supporters in afghanistan and abandoned ukraine.  i don't know why anyone globally would trust us to fulfill any commitment we might make.

Why would they trust us regardless? We have a 4 year election cycle and there’s like a 50% chance we elect a guy who already tried to overthrow the US government.

i don't think it's news to anyone that this board is significantly out of step with the nation's politics.

It has always been our custom to lead from the front.

Politics board should be renamed to reference the movement of the Overton Window that we are responsible for.

the board has more in common with the proverbial japanese soldier isolated on an island.

in the past we had a bipartisan commitment to maintaining a coherent foreign policy.  i agree that it is no longer rational for other countries to trust the united states.

Who would trust a country whose lead diplomacy tools are: Sanctions, threats, bombs and regime change.

I'll ask these again for what feels like the 100th time.

Why wouldn't Russia think we're wishing them ill?  How has the United States reacted every single time a Geo-strategic advisory has attempted to set up shop in our hemisphere (and sadly clear across the globe as well, in places that most Americans DNGAFA)?

The U.S. consistently meddled in the affairs in Ukraine including going so far as orchestrating a coup and toppling a dully elected Ukrainian president. If China orchestrated a coup in Mexico, how would we react? (Probably a bad question with this President who seemingly is stepping aside and letting the Chinese do whatever they want in Panama, but think if we had a normal non Chinese stooge as our President).

Why is this President and his family so immersed in one of the most corrupt countries on the planet thousands of miles away from the United States?  U.S. neocons have been horned up about Ukraine for decades.
#neocongE as expected won’t touch any of the questions.

BTW your mentally incapacitated old war monger can’t make it through his incoherent gibberish speeches anymore because his Middle East war mongering and limp wristed flaccid attempts to get Israel to back off is just a theater of appeasement for genocide. Which your guy loves.

Given that with America it is no longer rational to expect bi-partisan support for anything (let alone for the welfare of non-Americans), isn’t the most reasonable course of action to continue to plow as many resources as possible into institutions that can serve as some insurance against the perils of whipsawing policy? Defense budget, NATO support, infrastructure, energy independence…these are the things that can buoy us.

whatever you think of how the united states has treated native americans, there hasn't been a lens through which it could argued to be considered foreign policy for a hundred years.

i think there is a very strong argument that with the pax americana era dying or already dead, we need to increase defense spending.  we aren't going to do so, but we should.

Our heritage is that we will ass eff anyone over a barrel whenever it suits us.  That is a much longer standing and consistent American tradition than democrats and republicans handshaking on foreign policy. It is one that we inherited from our parent country.

The FFY 2024 Defense Budget is $840 billion dollars (all time record) supporting the lowest levels of personnel in decades.

The Federal Budget Deficit just 2 months in to FFY '24 was 509 billion.

Dax, the entire point of modern defense budgets is to be able to do more carnage with fewer personnel.  You are stuck in the Russia meat grinder mindset, my man.

For example, the former CEO of Google is starting a new biz to make AI drones that do the killing.

Then the U.S. military's growing concern (except for the Marines) about their dreadful recruiting numbers shouldn't even be a topic.  Why are our military leaders talking about it?  Why are people in Congress talking about using non U.S. citizens in the military, if as you say, the personnel numbers are a non issue?  You should be calling them out for their hyperbole and ridiculous rhetoric, Pete.

Normal and sane people are terrified of the military implications of AI, but since you're a #neocon ghoul, you love it.  Sad

Dax, you should be embracing the permanent wartime economy as a possible means to control the American population and enforce your desired culture.  Imagine….armies of drones seizing upon protesters, thundering through the door of clandestine drag shows, precisely striking those in crowds who have failed to remove their headgear during the ceremony of allegiance.
