One thing that Dax has in common with my favorite comedian of all time Norm Macdonald, is that if Norm really believed in a joke he would still do it even if it fell completely flat with the crowd. In fact several of his close friends claim that he actually kind of enjoyed bombing. I mean, not the utter failure aspect of it, I think maybe it was more of a principled stance. Like he believed in the bit and he’s not going to sell out just to please a bunch of random strangers in some chucklehut on a Wednesday night. So when it tanked he would just bask in the uncomfortableness of being, ostensibly, bad at his chosen profession.
