I would probably prefer Los Angeles, CA over anywhere in the world but my wife refuses to not hate everything about LA. Very frustrating.
Compromise and move to Dallas

this is a good point

I'd take San Diego over LA all day son

san diego is definitely great but way more to do in LA which puts it over the top for me

South Carolina would probably be one of the only places the wife and I could agree on. Mountains for me, beach for her

It really sucks that I finally got a job where I can work from anywhere and I had to go & reproduce right before it. Would have been a blast working up in the mountains, hiring docs, & then hiking over lunch & catching some gnarly trout. But my kid is pretty awesome, so that's cool too.

Yeah, but are there grandparents there too? Because that's pretty big on our end. Especially since my fam only has 1 grand kid.

People that live up by the Canadian border drive snowmobiles around in the winter instead of cars. Sounds cool to me!

Also, they drink a lot.

If things go according to my plan, we will live 6 months of the year in Northern MN, and 6 months no farther North than Kansas.

Kc checks all my boxes except weather. I don't really care about doing stuff but maybe that would change if there was more than 4 weeks of tolerable weather a year.

Along those lines I don't really have a specific place in mind but reasonable humidity in a metro area of 50k-3million without horrible traffic.

Maybe take it to the shame thread, but I think Chicago is way overrated. I guess I just don't get that city. It's cool and all, but I'd never want to live there. Been there a crap load of times & it's never been like: "OMG, I GOTTA LIVE HERE!".

I generally feel this way, I'm never really that impressed and/or happy with and Chicago experience I've had.

Same with LA. Probably shame for me for both but I just can't ever imagine living in either city, at least they are better than pick any Texas city though, woof.

Chicago is a slightly cooler generic mega-city than dallas. That's about all there is to say about it

chicago has much more of an identifiable culture and vibe (to me) versus dallas which comes off as the worst kind of generic metropolis with no soul whatsoever

i don't think i'd prefer to live in the united states, although i'm not 100% sure.

at any rate, i think the list is probably (in order):  nm, ut, id, wa, or, az, mt, co, wy, tx, ne, ks, sd, nd.  no other acceptable states.

Yes, people love having an excuse to visit the mountains.  Especially if they have someone to stay with.

I would probably love the crap out of Washington. I've only crossed the state line once over gods bridge, but it looks amaze from Portland.

Portland Oregon was my favorite vacay city before ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter burned it to the ground.

I don't think there are any states that don't have places in them that would be shitty to live in.

Most states probably have somewhere within them that would be adequate to good.

I think New Mexico would be good assuming it had water in 10 years.

I grew up like right next to NM. I’m confused by the appeal for anyone. Hot, dry, weirdos.
