I own and set up the mevo for streaming. when it cuts out because it just got nailed by a foul ball to the fence I get several thousand texts from angry grandparents. really distracting when I'm trying to send their grandkid to stretch a single into an out at second. better than dealing with the little crap fumbling around with his sliding glove right in front of me though.
This made me LOL.  Signs of getting old... my first 2 years coaching, I got weekly mailers from the league with scores, standings, etc.

CF3, thank you for your service

I was behind the dish for this one. They lost to Mill Valley earlier and I was in the field. I was pretty surprised to be on these games because I mostly work sub-varsity or varsity that isn't as high level.

The pitcher for Blue Valley is the #1 ranked player in the state of Kansas and committed to Texas. He hits 94 with a killer slider, but MW got 3 on him in the 2nd. Went back and forth but it was 6-5 going into the bottom of the 7th. BV got runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out, and I think the coach called for a hit and run, kid takes the pitch and the catcher back picks the kid for out 2 at third. Grounder to 2nd to end the game.

Frankly I kinda hope I stay on the sub varsity games. This one I felt the pressure and ejected a kid when I shouldn't have. Fun but stressful.

Also SD Millard West has like 22 kids or something on their varsity roster. It's insane. They are very, very good. Blue Valley is no joke and that is a legit win.

Baseball culture cracks me sometimes tho. The chatter of it. BV had I'm guessing their JV team or just some students in the stands and were chirping all game. One kid would yell "See everyone, I'm not afraid anymore. I'm not afraid anymore!" like Kevin does in that scene in Home Alone whenever a MW player would swing and miss. It was pretty funny.

Yeah, it’s a very big deal to make the MW baseball team. Really hoping lil sd develops enough to have a shot.

Fun fact, Lil SF would be polite and say thank you for spending $500 on a new glove but then grab the one he as been using since he was a littler kid and take it out to CF with him.

this thing won't be used this season for sure. even R2G it's stiff AF. also I wasted a shitload of money on it because he spends 2/3 of his time behind the dish catching. but I'm so addicted to the Rawlings custom glove maker thing and it'll look good on the mantle when he's done with it. This was as much for me as him. Also it came way after his birthday which sucked.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

My nightmare that I successfully avoided. You have 9 more years of this and i'm sorry. I have two pals that have had kids do this. Almost every weekend they are at an all day thing waiting for their kid to dance for 3 minutes. Then when their kid is done, they have to sit there the rest of the day/night waiting for the awards ceremony at the end. They basically spend their weekends watching movies on iPads.

It seems basically like if our kids only got one at bat during a 10 hour game, but also didn't play in the field, and also watching other peoples kids do something way less fun than play baseball.

Congrats to LilgirlSD though, i'm sure she is stoked.

For those that don't attend 12u travel team games, can you elaborate?

They all have walk up songs and they act like they have been in the bigs for a decade already.

They will have a giant speaker and some prerecorded AI voice that will say "Now batting for the Rawlings Tigers, number 13.... BRADEN RILEY!" and then play some stupid walk up song. I was working last weekend and it is in between high school season and summer ball and got put on a 12u field and it's all day. It's so stupid. By the time the kids get to 14u, 15u, 16u etc they do away with all that Mickey Mouse crap thank the lord.

CF3 Family Summer:

15 year old: morning swimming or running, strength and conditioning. He's quitting football and doing cross country for sophomore year, so lots of work to get ready for that.
13 year old: club basketball with tournaments every other weekend. 2 out of town tournaments. lots of practicing. volleyball and soccer camps
9 year old: swim team at local pool, soccer and basketball camp here and there
6 year old: T Ball, soccer camp

I'll umpire probably 3ish times a week. Might work a basketball tourney if I get a chance.

We're that family.

I had seen the walk-up songs but didn't know about the actual voices announcing the players! As a parent who no longer has children participating in competitive kids sports, it seems silly and fun. (I might feel differently if I were an umpire lol)
