Our school district had 180 staff absences for Covid Thursday. Which seems like a lot.

Not saying our district is taking the right approach but with 10 days out I think you will run out of students and teachers pretty quickly.

5 day quarantine for positives. Masks are required, except for PE and lunch. We stopped doing test to stay the same way (test 5 days everyday for close contacts) to only day 1 and day 7 and you can stay in school if you don’t have symptoms.

Are most of these staff out with mandatory quarantine after taking a test due to close proximity to another case?  That seems like too many for them all to have experienced significant symptoms that led to testing, doesn't it?

Close proximity was the bulk of absences here. Took the 5 day weekend to recover. Now snow and ice. So day 6 is an nti day. Hopefully full classrooms rest of the week.

yeah, this is going to be interesting. I've heard SM is close and we have been getting "be prepared" emails. So, some of the largest districts in the state may be forced to close and since KS politicians are rough ridin' dumbasses, virtual isn't allowed. I'm not a fan of virtual, but that seems better than no school.

St Joseph School District has cancelled today and Wednesday as well.  Staff shortages.

well it's 10 days for symptomatic only (5 days asymptomatic) and they're testing all the time. which should catch more infections sooner and reduce them overall.

Tested positive today, have had a mild sore throat for a couple days, no other symptoms (yet).  Guessing I got it at the Chiefs\Broncos game Saturday.

Woke up more congested and a worse sore throat.  Def hammering some dayquil.

On day 7, pretty much symptom free.  Tested positive again on day 5.  It is weird, I had a couple of symptom free days, and then shitty days after.  I have been isolating in the the basement, thankfully my wife and kid still haven't gotten it.  Coincidentally my 18 month old got sick with something else... my wife is about to lose her mind!

Yeah I think my wife is secretly hoping one of them tests positive so I can come out of the dungeon.  Almost to that point myself.  After how many days did Mrs SF come out of isolation?
