We've known for a long time, as the esteemed LickNeckey notes, that the purpose of crappy masks is to Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) the outspread of droplets and, to a lesser extent, aerosols from the person wearing the mask. Only idiots have continued to believe they provide "filtration efficiency" for the person wearing the mask.

That has nothing whatsoever to do with what I said.   I was referencing behaviors, and countless studies have said that in many environments cloth masks are rendered utterly ineffective in a matter of minutes and yet people falsely believed they were being protected by continuing to linger in those saturated environment with their cloth mask being useless.

this is an almost perfect MAGA litmus test. always has been.

my cloth mask doesn't protect ME vs. my cloth mask mitigates the spread to OTHERS.

MAGAs have an incredibly difficult (impossible?) time formulating in their brains why protecting others is worthwhile. there's probably a name for that but I'm no psychologist.
