I was going off of this:
https://www.kwch.com/2021/01/08/frustrations-grow-over-covid-19-vaccine-distribution-in-kansas/

Quote
During Friday’s call, Gov. Kelly said the timeline is not set in stone, but she hopes to wrap up Phase 1 in the next ten days. Phase 2 would begin in late January or early February and end in April or May, Phase 3 begin and then end in June followed by Phases 4 and 5 which would eventually include all Kansans over the age of 16 and/or children depending on the state of the vaccine.

If we could just get all of the willing 75+ population chipped over the next 6 - 8 weeks, it would make a huge difference in the amount of hospital use and death.

Seems like a good data point for splitting up the US project.

Sir Charles chimes in on chip priority.

Quote
“I think they should let this NBA players and coaches all get the vaccine, that’s just my personal opinion,” said Barkley, a Hall of Famer and former NBA MVP.  He added: “Listen, as much taxes as these players pay, let me repeat that: as much as these players pay, they deserve some preferential treatment.”

A better way to look at it...

and honestly in the grand scheme of things the number of vaccines the NBA would require is a drop of the bucket. We've probably thrown away more than they would need.

I don't disagree with him.  Not necessarily because they pay more taxes they should be preferential treatment but their profession and the spin off economy it supports and like you said, it's a pretty small # of chips.

There is no good way to look at an argument that one of the youngest, healthiest, and wealthiest groups of people in the United States should receive priority for the vaccine. Good grief.

Is there anything mediocre white boys won't use the word "cancelling" to describe? Apparently you can't make fun of someone on twitter without being accused of cancelling.

What about the argument already said multiple times so far that on a shot-per-shot basis it has incredibly disproportionate potential to benefit the economy? Or are you saying outbreaks be damned they can play on and hopefully any vulnerable collateral damage would be vaxxed up by then?

There are very few places in the country that this sector of the population are getting vaccinated. Even if they are first, we absolutely have to make sure that we're getting these hospitals freed up to do more than treating the elderly with with disease. I understood having an alternate opinion on this months ago when we first had this conversation. Knowing what we currently know about how badly the hospitals are being taxed, I don't know how anyone could want anything other than our health care system to not be on the brink of total collapse.

He said NFL and NBA, so more like 3500.

What about others who make "a lot of money," where exactly does this slope end?

I don't know if I have mentioned this or not, but my mother has lupus and myeloma and she has to wait in line with regular people to get the vaccine. She lives in an NBA and NFL city. If the roughly 150 NBA and NFL personnel gets the vaccine before she does and then she gets COVID waiting to get it, should I be pissed about that?

NFL is pretty much done, they should go to the back of the line. And I think your mom should definitely go ahead of the NBA, but I don't think the ~25-50 vaccines the NBA required would make a difference for your mom in a major city.

As for high earners going first, I don't agree with Chuck on that. Plenty of high earners can work remotely and still keep people employed. NBA'ers can't
