so as far as numbers go I've just been keeping an eye on the California County watchlist, which basically determines whether or not schools can open

https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/COVID19CountyDataTable.aspx

Basically, you need to have adequate testing, low case rates, stable hospitalizations, and ICU/ventilator availability.

The problem is it's too hard to get off the list (I think mostly because of the 14-day case rate). But like no one seems to be doing anything about it other than complaining that it's too hard to get off the list:

https://abc7news.com/solano-county-coronavirus-health-department-covid-19-state-watch-list-ca/6343910/

so that's fun.

well that watch list got blown up

https://twitter.com/GavinNewsom/status/1299425822361616385

looking at the map, I don't know how SF county is in the red. All I know is where I live will always be purple

there's like 12 people that live in the three yellow counties.

Tuolumne County somehow has over 50k. We subsidize mountain living for shitloads of people. Like every time I go up there they're getting new roads built or using prisoners to put out fires or operating an army of snow plows

wow this new system is just incredibly stupid and somehow worse than the stupid monitoring list system. at least make it clear how everything is calculated, especially when it only looks at two factors!

Quote
**Case rate will be determined using confirmed (by PCR) cases, and will not include state and federal inmate cases. Case rates include an adjustment factor for counties that are testing above the state average. The incidence is adjusted downwards in a graduated fashion, with a maximum adjustment at twice the State average testing rate.

I don't know if this is rational or quantifiable, but I'd feel more comfortable on a slightly crowded patio or street than I would at an indoor bar with "social distancing"

well I may have been wrong here (depends on how high and low occupancy is defined obviously so this really isn't all that helpful)

I would just always assume indoors is poorly ventilated unless there's like the garage door windows open or something

The efficacy they have given face coverings is interesting (seems like they believe they are very effective more so than airflow, I think?).

Wonder where they are deciding that outdoor transmission is high without face masks and high occupancy. I don't specifically remember an event like that, but I think sys mentioned some Italian futbol game tho at one point.

yeah even then I don't think people really know how much the actual game contributed as much as all the people on trains (the game was played in Milan instead of Bergamo) and packed into bars. Since people didn't even really know it was in Europe at that point it was hard to track. This is an interesting read:

(Lots of stories from February, March and April are probably pretty interesting to read now)

Surge in Europe continues, thankfully so far mortality is relatively low.

Right. My question was more in this document what they consider indoor well ventilated

India sets new daily case world record.

Phil Titola extremely pissed off.

Russia (lying) surpasses 1 million cases.

CoronaBros losing countries to point to.

Lock downs, restrictions, mandatory mask orders issued and/or reissued all across the globe.

Pandemic:  Still Global

What should have us all absolutely enraged is the fact that the WHO is once again allowing the Chinese to slow roll the so called deep dive into the origins of this virus.   Stating that recent meetings in Beijing were just "preliminary" and that they'll maybe go to Wuhan in a few weeks or months . . . maybe.

At this point it's pretty much a total waste of time and all purely symbolic.

People like Fauci and those in the gain of function business need to be in front of Congress answering questions.   But that'll probably never happen.

Best way to pass off blame is to pull out and say it's all their fault. Trump hallmark move.

Phil it's a Global Pandemic

No one has it beat besides maybe the Swedes and a few small island nations, or those that don't care so they don't test.

The U.S. has conducted 80m SARS-Covid-19 tests, that's double the next non lying nation and more than Germany, UK, Italy, France and Spain combined.   Yes, numbers of tests does count relative to the asymptomatic nature of this virus.   Even the German equivalent to the CDC admitted there's 4x to 10x the known cases in Germany.   The level of tests per 1M populace in the U.S. is more than 2x to 3x  that of Germany, Italy, Spain, France individually.

Let's keep giving the WHO $500 million dollars a year while they chose to answer to the Chinese (and have for years) . . . Phil "always enraged" Titola
