AfuckingMen. Some of these front facing men and women have convinced themselves that they can't show leadership without always having something to say, sometimes less can be more. I think most people want their government leaders telling them what's happening instead of what they think is going to happen. I don't know how any of the public speculation is helpful to anyone. Newsome says he's going to be guided by science not politics, but the science is changing daily. Can't we get an idea what science tells us what the path forward will look like before these people tell us what they think is going to happen?

My gov is MAGA a.f. but I do appreciate that her briefings and public statements are nothing more than updates as to what is happening in the state right now.

Although I don't believe that it's a bioweapon at this point, I have seen some information from some high level intelligence officers and military leaders who've stated that's the path they're investigating.  Those guys are probably morons.

So, are we completely ignoring the years of work that Shi Zhengli put into figuring out how to get the virus to mutate across species in this groupthink.  I certainly hope she didn't waste all that time writing papers and doing speaking engagements discussing her work.

I realize that our news sources agree with you, however virologists from other European and Asian countries say otherwise. With "high-level" virologists and geneticists that have sequenced and studied the COVID-19 genome who sit on BOTH sides of the argument, how do we decide which ones to believe?

I've heard something about a website "get my check" or something where you can verify your identity and bank account and then the gov sends you the money but I don't think its operational yet.

I do kind of want a check signed by donnie, mobile deposit it then frame the check and point to it every time my dad is at my house and complaining about democrats/socialism.

I totally disagree. I'm not a huge fan of Newsom, but sharing a "plan" for reopening (as vague as it was) was a good idea given the national chatter of wanting to reopen and to reassure people that it's something they are actively planning for before the natives get restless. He's been giving the daily updates you describe but California's really in a pretty stable state right now and there isn't much relevant new data (even though he does discuss new data).

In the press conference where he announced this, about 10 minutes in he brought on a doctor with a graph of current state, how it compares to models, and how it is relevant to reopening. And she's the one that went deeper into each criteria to modify the shutdown. Really, some version of what he's laying out should have been done at the federal level because it applies to all states, not just California. I'd expect at minimum the western states adopt the same framework and I'd bet a lot of the country will as well. It's worth a watch if you want a contrast to Trump's shitshows.

yes I highly recommend that you go to a website for "get my check" and give them all your identifying info and bank account #.  No negative repercussions
