Quote from: MakeItRain on April 01, 2020, 06:23:56 PMThis was in response to posters, not just me, stating that China wasn't being honest about their numbers. No one said they had hundreds of thousands or millions of deaths, just a hell of a lot more than 3700. I suppose you can provide yourself shelter under the totally nebulous "raging out of control" whatever that means. It's ridiculous to think that the country that had it first, didn't have the insight to know it was coming, had it months before it was discovered anywhere else, and is the most populous country in the world, has several times fewer cases than countries who had time to prepare, has much smaller populations, and less population density. Is it also inappropriate to point out that coronavirus still is present in China but their death toll hasn't advanced in a month? Should that just be chalked up to good ol' fashioned communist know-how?yeah, both of those are my quotes. iirc, i also posted, shortly after that first post, agreeing with another poster that the exact numbers may or may not be accurate and we wouldn't know, but that we have good evidence that they were able to control the initial outbreak.they do continue to report new covid 19 deaths, btw.

Frankly, California should be ashamed, or any of the other coastal states that won't take the ship.

I don't understand why these people can't be taken off the ship then moved to a military base or some crap for two weeks. Isn't that what they did with that ship in California in February? I don't get the fright, it isn't as if this ship is introducing the rona to any of these states.
Foreign-flagged ships are the norm in the cruise industry. By registering ships in the Bahamas, Panama and other countries, cruise companies can avoid U.S. taxes as well as employment and environmental laws. But now, the Coast Guard is telling those companies that their ships should seek medical care in the countries where they are registered, rather than rely on the U.S."Foreign flagged vessels that loiter beyond U.S. territorial seas, particularly those registered to The Bahamas, that require a MEDEVAC to a shoreside facility should seek flag state support prior to seeking support from the limited facilities in the U.S.," Jones wrote.
I can tell based upon the recent posts that some of you are close to the tipping point of acknowledging we’ve gone overboard. It’s ok to be concerned. You also need to be skeptical and keep a sense of perspective.

FL was always the final destination for that ship
