You gotta check the date on that tweet my dude

That was tweeted on February 9th, posting it as if it has relevance today is completely out of context. The misinformation she is speaking about is likely about Chinese people and Chinese Americans and nothing about America's policy on coronavirus seeing as if we had no defined policy at that time.

Inexcusable and I hope she's held to account for doing it. There is no reason the direct payments need to be in the same bill as this other stuff.

Did he say anything that would lead anyone to believe that this was even an option, or are we throwing up unnecessary smokescreens? I missed today's briefing, but in the previous ones he's been pretty clear about allowing the states to do whatever the hell they want to do, which seems to be abetting angering Gov. Cuomo.

He wants to basically keep the old and high risk away and get the young back working. He cares about the economy more than anything. Watch the presser and make a determination for yourself.

Holy crap, a republican repulsed by Matt Gaetz enough that he's defending a California lib. That is something, this rona is something else.

I think a large majority of dems are unnecessarily freaking out about Trump's diarrhea of the mouth. He has said insane, stupid crap literally every single day. The freak out over sending people back to work next week is cherry picking. He hadn't done crap and will continue not to do crap.

Seems a little unfair to compare them side by side but not account for total population.

Quote
Cuomo has read the room better than Sanders and his fellow socialists. As ideologues, democratic socialists see a crisis and immediately move to exploit the crisis in order to advance their ideology. But most people, in the middle of a crisis, just want their leaders to address the crisis, not exploit it.

there may well be some clever strategy around advancing the relief bill through congress that necessitates the seemingly extraneous material, but taking things at face value, i'm surprised to see pelosi choosing the sanders avenue rather than cuomo's path for the stimulus bill (quote is from the article; the article doesn't talk about the stimulus bill).

Yeah I mean I agree the raw number is important. Just don’t see the point of comparing raw # of deaths (not even cases) side by side for areas with vastly different population numbers. If you took the exact same mitigation strategy and implemented it in a place with 1k, 10k, and 100k people, the death toll would still be way different.

I also think anecdotally Washington’s curve is probably skewed because they had death #10 really early in the spread since coronavirus hit a nursing home so soon.

His words matter more than anyone's, really. And most of the stupid crap he says is just childish bullshit, suggesting that everyone goes back to work puts pressure on governors who probably shouldn't yet and gets him off the hook. It'll probably work too.

Yeah, he's still the president and his words matter. Most of this country didn't take this seriously until he did, or at least pretended to.

I think he truly believes it's not a serious matter. And he only deferred to experts because his attempts to turn around the stock market quickly had failed. Now, he thinks the experts have failed to do so and he's done with their advice.

The economy is not going to do well with a health system completed overran and people dying from COVID and from normal stuff that can't be fixed in hospitals due to COVID overrun.

This is the only way they can frame it for it to click for this guy.  We have the game plan from the east, lock down, get it under control, get relief to businesses and individuals and deal with it.  Opening early and dragging this out will make it 100x worse.  JFC this isn't difficult to understand.

It's worse than simply pointing blame, though. He believes his reelection is directly tied to the stock market. He will do anything he thinks will turn around the stock market. Pretty dangerous given that he also thinks this is like the flu.
