When I lived in Kansas, I considered it The Midwest. Living in Ohio, I consider Kansas The Great Plains. Great Plains is much cooler.

I kinda think the flint hills are the transition line from midwest to great plains in Kansas. don't give me this 81 or 281 highway business - western ks starts where the flint hills end

The high plains have more in common with states like Wyoming and Montana than states like Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana. I consider Kansas east of Topeka to be the south, other than the Kansas City metro, which is probably Midwest. Wichita is west. Nebraska is similar, where Omaha is Midwest but most of the rest of the state is not. I know almost nothing about the Dakotas, but their complete lack of urban areas makes them a western state in my mind. States on the Pacific coast should also be their own category outside of the west, if they aren't already.

You can really break this up better using major river watersheds than state lines.

Not to turn this into a geography crap, but Wichita is laughably not the west. It's a rust belt city stuck in the plains at worst. You don't have/used to have major manufacturing and come out not feeling midwest

I always group wichita in with OKC/Tulsa as mini texas.

Salina is the last real "Midwest" city (Manufacturing, 50k population etc) in Kansas. Everything west of Salina is western KS. You could pick up Salina and move them to the middle of Indiana and no one would notice and nothing would change.

7 day average now down to 624.  20% lower than last thursday.  30% lower than 2 thursdays ago.  About half as low as a month ago.

Things have been consistently and steadily getting better on that front for about 2 months.

Fingers crossed that those getting sick now are a less vulnerable portion of the population. % postive has gone up about 1 percent i think.  Which isn't ideal, but not exactly catastrophic either (yet).

That said, I've heard several times throughout this consistent decline that we're on the eve of an upswing, and so far, we haven't been.  Hopefully that continues.  Trends: friends.

And again, we’re finding more asymptomatic than ever. In Dallas you could get a drive thru test recently just for being in a large gathering.

Still, hospitalizations definitely going up. Hopefully advances in treatment can offset that and keep deaths down.

I want to see a chart with new cases, hospitalized, and deaths together. It obvious cases didn't go down nearly as severe as.deaths but I wonder if hospitalization follows the case or death trend more ?

How in the world do we not have every state doing enough tests by now? That was supposed to happen months ago according to trump. Months!
