I have found that just acting like you're other people's boss is actually very effective.

Chum, besides this thread have you been taking detailed notes on how D2 engineered this turnaround? I think you have the beginning of a great business/leadership book "They Tried to Force me out but now I'm their boss" A true story of office intrigue and maneuvering

Background: Every Sunday, Owner/CEO takes notes from whatever worship service he attends and then sends them out to the company.

This morning in my inbox, I see this:

Quote
Sorry about the typo guys!! I reading the notes into phone while I drove. Supposed to say followed Paul

So, I go to look at the email he sent out Sunday. Eight sentences into the fourth paragraph, I see this:

Quote
The human heart has not changed. If we look at 1732 leasee that it says some mumped Paul.

D2, walking in the door this morning: Geez. This is the first day in nine years that I didn't want to come here in the morning. First time in nine years!

NG2, after D2 immediately left for coffee: I didn't even know what to say about that.

Me: I thought it sounded pretty melodramatic.

Me and NG1: [laughing at D2]

NG2: I think he's trying to quit smoking this week.

This will be interesting! He's been a smoker for 35-40 years.

He said HRP told him that GG would be moving into another room and working a reduced schedule.

She's moving stuff out right now. She said it is temporary in order to teach some stuff to the people in the other room and that she'd be moving back.

That's not the impression that D2 gave when he was acting like he was the boss and taking it upon himself to deliver this news. He even encouraged NG2 to move into GG's desk!

It's been a wild two years.

Quote
Finally, we have officially decided to wind-down [new software] as our [primary business] software platform. It is disheartening and sad to us that all the effort didn’t provide the expected fruits of our labor. We thank [GG] and all members who have worked to make the effort with [new software company]. Unfortunately, all of the “rights” didn’t align and we decided to sunset software by 12/31. I would appreciate that this remain confidential because our external communication has not yet been sent. Should there be any questions, please send them to me.

With that said, we obviously have clarity of our direction. We have made investments in [old software] over the past 60 days that will help to better the systems and we will continue to bolster those systems from the [primary business] perspective. We are thankful to [D2] and [D1] and the folks at [old software company] for their part in supporting the upgrades.

how much of the new software failing is due to D2 blocking/resisting?

GG still does stuff with the new software company that is profitable. It's not what she wants to be doing, though. She wanted to do what D2 is doing and pass off what she's doing to someone else. She gave it her best shot, upended a lot of the company for a while, and spent a shitload of money. Kind of a major fail.

D2 is super excited and super rough ridin' annoying right now. I worked from home yesterday because he was driving me crazy on Thursday. Definitely acting like hot crap and self important. Talking SUPER loud to everyone about everything, as though everyone needs to pay attention to what he has to say because it's so rough ridin' important. This includes taking every call on speaker. Shouting stuff like, "OH YEAH! LOVE IT!" and "GETTIN' IT DONE!" And sometimes slapping his desk once or twice after saying one of these lame expressions.

D2 totally could have helped make it happen. I wouldn't say he sabotaged anything, but he also didn't lift a finger to help. It doesn't even matter, though! Because even if he'd been willing, GG did not want him anywhere near any of it and would have blocked him at every turn. TOTALLY DYSFUNCTIONAL!!!

She comes in quite a bit later than me in the mornings and I stopped saying hi to her a month or two ago. So, it kinda works for me in a way.

D2 has been contemplating a couple of front row tickets. $800+ a piece. I think he'll pull the trigger soon.

I said, "Wow. I wonder what those Motley Crue guys look like these days." I got this breakdown.

* Tommy and Nikki look good!
* Nikki, in particular looks really good. And so does Tommy!
* Vince, now, he's looking a little rough. He's not looking so good these days. Haha.
* Mick ... oof. They might have to wheel him out on a dolly. He's ... uhhh ...
