Went to F9 last night.  It was pretty fast and reasonably furious.

Backdraft 5/7

I saw five minutes of this movie earlier this week and I was like, "that's my Friday movie!" Cast includes Kurt Russell, Billy Baldwin, Donald Sutherland and Robert De Niro. This is a movie about two brothers (Russell and Baldwin) who are fire fighters and there's an arsonist causing havoc in Chicago. To sum it up, it's a good early 90's movie.

The Tomorrow War 2.5 or 3/7.

The first five minutes were the best part of this movie. It sucked which I expected from an Amazon Original. I still think it's worth watching because it had Chris Pratt and it's an alien invasion movie.

This rating seems a bit low. You know, or should know, what it's going to be going in. I found it an enjoyable, mindless waste of time.

Edit: strong father/daughter vibes, if that tugs at the ol' heartstrings for you.

I loved Midsommar. It is unsettling in a unique way, but that's what makes it good.

Well, that was interesting.

I held off on this movie for as long as I did because the pig woman scared me, but she wasn't featured as prominently as I was expecting. I enjoy scary movies and this was a good one, but it was definitely different than what I usually watch.

Enjoyed A Quiet Place II yesterday. Good scares. Somewhat predictable but most scary movies tend to be.

Summer of Soul was a really good documentary on Hulu.  Questlove got old footage of a summer music festival in Harlem in 1969.

The Kid Detective - I have a hard time taking Adam Brody seriously but this movie was pretty fun.

Watched Sweeny Todd over the weekend.  Man, I knew it would be dark, but that was darker than I expected.

Midnight Run (1988) - 6/7 so fun! some incredible lines, and great chemistry between de niro and grodin (rip). based on the premise alone this movie should not have been this good. and based on when it came out, i didn't think the comedy would have aged so well but it really does

I saw that on Netflix (I think) and considered it.  Now I'll have to watch

Man, it's been years and years since I saw that movie, but I remember it being good. Seems like it was one of those that was on HBO all the time like 25+ years ago.

Watched Some Kind of Heaven the other night.  It's a doc about a sprawling retirement community in Florida.  The community stuff was interesting but it also focused on a guy that started doing a lot of drugs in his old age to pass the time.  Another guy lives in his van and just pretends to be a part of the community to find an old rich woman to take care of him.  It was a fun trip seeing these archtypes that you know in your 20s trying to do it at 80.

Watched The Hunt on Saturday.  Some decent satire and dark comedy but overall kinda meh.

Yeah it's not bad.  Perhaps I was too harsh on my initial review, I think it now rates slightly higher than "kinda meh."

Maybe it's just because I've seen a lot of shitty movies lately and it entertained me. I feel like I've seen everything already, so anything new to me, can be a surprise from time to time. I honestly had no clue what it was about. I had just seen a pretty vague trailer back in the day.

Lindelof is a TV god but a lot of his movies look like trash. Maybe I should give them a chance.
