I watched the Mortal Kombat first 7 minutes that they released on HBO Max and this movie will be awesome.

I don't think I will watch a movie tonight and probably none tomorrow, but check back in this space for some weekend updates.

Haven’t bothered watching the teaser cause I know I’ll watch the movie at some point this weekend regardless.

I’m sure I’ll be disappointed to some extent, but I honestly probably haven’t been more excited for a movie since Infinity War.

Also really hoping the movie goes over well cause it feels like this could turn into a MCU type thing with all the unique characters and storylines.

Last night I laid in bed with lots of MK thoughts.

Like, just trying to figure out who all is in the movie because in the trailer there’s more good guys than bad guys. Are there bad guys that aren’t in the trailer? There’s no Johnny Cage, but Kano is good? I did someone mentioned as a cast member/character that’s not in the trailer. After awhile I did think “there’s no way this is as good as I’ve built up in my head.”

I want to watch the first 7 minutes, but I’m delaying it to see the whole thing at once. I’m pumped KK said it was good. I saw someone said what it focuses on, but then I immediately closed that article before more spoilers.

Only thing I’ve really read so far (which I believe) is that is a good action movie and true to most fan expectations, but not on par with like the good marvel movies in terms of storyline.

The story is that beings from another dimension with magic powers host a fighting tournament against the humans and the winner gets to keep earth. That's all you need to know.

Oh, and the fights are to the death. The loser gets dismembered in the most comically over the top way that the winner is capable of.

Not having seen it I’m gonna go with, no. The movie will explain whatever story you need, and kind of like comic books, MK doesn’t have a single cohesive storyline, anyway.

I’m sure you’d enjoy it more if you have any nostalgia about the game or characters, but for that you either got it or you don’t.

I think you need to play Mortal Kombats 1-6 and 8-10 to track the movie.  Ignore 7 as it was non-canonical.

Same here. Probably got about 2 hours sleep, tops.  Tonight will be worse, I am afraid.  It's surreal knowing that tomorrow I will probably watch one of the most significant movies of all time.

The trailer is really well done. It has a great build up, including barely showing Smoke coming out of billowing black smoke, then cutting off and dropping “I am Sub-Zero.”  Plus Scorpion massacring people while protecting his Home. :excited:

Yeah. It was somewhat different that I expected, but still great. When the nostalgic violence hits, it hits hard.

Going the R route with the target audience now in their 30s instead of 13 definitely allowed them to make a much better movie.

I’d say it delivered exactly what it promised. I was kinda hoping it could go the extra mile and resemble something like a MCU movie, but this felt more like a Fast & Furious type. Which honestly if they cranked one out every 1-2 years I’d be fine with.

MK - 3.5/7 outside scorpion v sub-zero this thing was pretty meh. Oh and Kung Lao is pretty great too. The "humor" absolutely failed, particularly kano. Fatalities rule tho. Whatever, I'll likely never watch this again.

Totally agree.
