I remember in one of my Western Civ classes studying about the fall of the Roman Empire... for quite a while I've seen us heading that way as professional sports has become such a huge influence in our society. This article from 2014 does a pretty good job of laying it all out IMO...

My point is this, and believe me I am as guilty as anyone on this board, we have let our lives as fans fall into a trap of letting these kids dictate to us what we will say and how we will act. "Don't say that it might affect a recruit" or "This will be used against us in recruiting" or "All of the players will leave if we don't do what they want". Well, I really am done with that crap. Its time for the REAL leaders of the team to step up and shut this down. Just like NIL, almost none would benefit in the grand scheme and why should the other student-athletes bow to the feet of the very few that it does...
I believe that there a few in the program, a loud few, that are driving this message. I do believe that most want nothing to do with it and just want to play. It really is sad but there would be a lot of people lose out on the chance at a college education without athletic scholarships. Hell, Looch and Co. might not even have a website if it wasn't for idiots like me that pay for all this stuff but I really want to be done. Stop enabling these fools with our money both college and pro... they play a freaking game... there are some who do good things with their money but I doubt it's many.
And thus my dilemma, I love my school, I want them to win and here I am paying for this website so I can follow everything Aggie Athletics and I pay thousands of dollars to support scholarships but I'm tired of this BS.
So, here is the line that will probably get this post banned, and it is the longest post I've ever made (look at my history) but here it goes... Epstein didn't kill himself and Mr. Leroy said "Blaggies not Blackies" It was a poor choice of words and he should have explained himself better but he was quite outnumbered at the time. I feel bad for both him and the kids on campus that think I'm a racist because I want Sully to stay. Absolutely no one who knows me would say I'm racist, in fact they would say quite a opposite. I would imagine the same would be said of most Aggies, because at our core we are a loving and caring people. Given the chance, I think most Aggies will give another the benefit of doubt... If we can't, on both sides, then we need to shut it down.
