Should the term "toxic masculinity" be regarded as hate speech?
Fightin TX Aggie 1:32p
The stupid-du-jour is that a razor company is now running an ad campaign to fight "toxic masculinity."

How in 2019 can that concept be a thing?

With any group other than men, that phrase would be regarded as bigotry.

Wikipedia defines prejudice as:

Quote:
Prejudice is an affective feeling towards a person or group member based solely on that person's group membership (tribal behavior). The word is often used to refer to preconceived, usually unfavorable, feelings towards people or a person because of their...gender...or other personal characteristics. Masculinity refers to the characteristics of males. Throwing a modifier ("toxic") in front of the word doesn't change this.

Think about it.

Someone who says, "I don't mind black people, I just hate [n-words]" is a bigot.

Someone who says, "I don't mind Hispanics, I just hate [w-words"] is a bigot.

Same with Jews and Zionists.

You don't get to assign a negative characteristic to a group and then decide which group members don't fall into your preference.

"Toxic masculinity" is the exact same thing. If you say, "Men are fine, but toxic masculinity is a problem," you're a bigot.

You don't need to attach masculinity to it at all. Say you're against sexist behavior. I agree. I'm with you. Say you're against bullying. Again, I agree - no problem.

But when you link sexism and bullying inherently to masculinity (ie, men), you're being a bigot.

One more contrast...

Imagine Playtex running an ad campaign targeted at women who get grouchy during or leading up to their menstrual periods.

Are some women less patient, more intemperate, meaner and angrier during this time? Sure.

Imagine Playtex running ads telling women to be better. To overcome their natural *****iness that comes with PMS.

That wouldn't fly for even a minute. But "toxic masculinity" is a-ok.

They are just shaming you as white male for the sins of other white males. You're guilty by association because you're white and you have male genitals. (Am I allowed to say ***** on here or does that get filtered?)

So your ***** is the root of all their perceived evil. Now if your ***** wasn't white, let's say it was black, then it would be seen as a panacea and something for your white wife to worship. Oh ya, it's already happening in movie narratives and all over the TV industry. White man bad, POC good. The pron industry was waaaaaaaay out in front of this year's ago. So much so that white actresses that did NOT engage in sexual scenes with a POC were shamed via the net to the point that many quit and some actually killed themselves.

Ya--- that's where we are at.

What would a civil war in America really be like?
Magneto 5:25p, 1/12/19
I keep hearing a lot about the loons that are getting jobs in the house and senate along with their radical ways of socialism.

If this keeps up and our constitution keeps getting pissed on, folks around here will hve enough.

Will it be just a bunch of civil unrest or full blown getting the guns out?

Huge chasm between racist and supremacist

Steve King is merely saying what many constituents think: call it reaction to BLM or the reparations movement, Antifa, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco level craziness, but he speaks for many white people who feel they are being blamed and penalized as a scapegoat group for the lack of success by other ethnic groups in America.

Will Europeans ever be recognized for developing the greatest societies in world history? Is that white supremacy or is it just true?

It's Official ----- TWITTER is protecting Alexandra Cortez
Clob94 9:25p, 1/13/19
I decided to open a faux twitter account of AOC as a parody and called myself Alexandra Occasional Cortex and said that I was a socialist that worked two jobs as a barista and also in a chiclet factory.

I added a photo of her giant chiclets and cray cray eyes and was just about to start following her actual twitter account so I could start setting up joke responses to her tweets and then......

Twitter bans me. I had yet to post one tweet or follow one person and twitter just cut me loose. I know, I know--- private company and what not. But now I'm wondering if I started a "Donald Trump's testicles" twitter account if I would be treated equally.

What am I thinking? Of course it would. You rock, twitter.

Circle One: Male Female Other
Quito 9:19p, 1/21/19
My 7 year old (1st Grade) brings home a form from school. In the form it asks for his Gender and choices are:

Male Female Other

Is this something I should question the teacher or even the principal on?

A dystopian novel some of you may find interesting
Tanya 93 10:02a, 3/25/18
It is called "The Mandibles" and it is about the collapse of the US economy and government and the aftermath.

This is the description from The New Yorker

f you think times are tough now, just wait until 2029. The good news is that the United States has hung on for another thirteen years. The bad news is everything else. "Dryouts" are commonplace, though it's not clear whether scarcity of water or the dilapidation of the infrastructure meant to distribute it is to blame. Americans are still reeling from the Stone Age of 2024, when the electric grid crashed, wreaking technological havoc: pileups on unlit roads, airplanes dropping from the skies, pacemakers pumping double-time, looting and riots from sea to shining sea. But those disasters are minor compared with the latest: an economic collapse set in motion by the introduction of the bancor, a new global reserve currency meant to replace the dollar on the international market and backed by a coalition of countries led by Russia's ruler-for-life, Vladimir Putin. Furious, President Alvarado, America's first Mexican-born head of state, announces that the U.S. will default on its loans. The Fed goes into overdrive, printing new money to cover its debts. In short order, a greenback is as worthless as a Weimar cigarette rolled with a fifty-billion-mark note. Hard-earned savings go up in smoke. A meager cabbage costs thirty dollars one week, forty the next, and that's when there's still cabbage to buy. So long, superpower nation. Hello, hyperinflation.

With the many threads on gun confiscation, economic collapse, and crumbling infrastructure this book I read popped into my head.

And just for a spolier to pique your interest, a smug prof gets smacked down to the bottom.

It is written by Lionel Shriver

Finally have jumped in on this.

Tanya was right, this is insane, not in the dystopian sense you'd expect from the strain or swan song but something that seems to real and so relevant....

Also I'll admit, the first 100 pages or so triggered the **** out of me, because it's told from the perspective of a guilty white liberal who gets railed by a Hispanic (or Lat, as they call them in the book) and she thinks it makes her so progressive as she washes dishes to make money.

More into the Mandibles themselves, I LOVE the sister of the guilty liberal, because it was revealed in the book she didn't vote for the Mexican born president yet all her friends cheered everyone on that did.

I'm not done yet, but this book is fascinating and scarily real. Yeah, there's no mad max warrior card across and dunes but there are awkward dinner parties including socialists who work at a university versus someone who saved for retirement and had it seized by the government...

I'm not done yet Tanya, but this book is amazing. And it's legit triggered me a few times. Press 2 for English was one of them.

I encourage everyone to check this book out...

So after discovering qanon i literally have the hardest time watching tv shows and movies now....

For example: monsters inc.. the plot is kidnapping a child to put them in a scream machine that sucks the life out of the child and gives the monsters energy.... has anyone ever noticed that? Literally its the objective of randal and the boss....

Also after noticing the ties between it, the boss looks like george soros.

I cant help but think these disney movies have blatant undertones of whats actually going on in the real world.

Anybody else? And if you dont believe me, go watch monsters inc
