Jeff Kelly, Kendall McIntosh, and Darren Howard on the same defense. Goodness, if LHC Bill Snyder was a 3% better game manager he might have had more than 1 national championship.

I can't recall all 11 regular starters for certain, but on that 1998 defense, nearly all of them played in the NFL at some point.

Safeties: Cooper & Chapman (with McGraw as a sub)
CBs: Butler & Carter
LBs: Kelly, Simoneau, Ochs (Leber was a sub)
DL: Howard, Clements, McIntosh, Rowe (Beisel was a sub)

That behind his back catch against Baylor was unbelievable. Would Jordy have been Jordy without Josh Freeman? Probably belongs in the Ron Prince appreciation thread, but Snyder gets credit for converting him to wide receiver.

Our defensive talent level was off the charts.
Here is an absolute defensive clinic in a 16-9 win at No. 14 Colorado.

Vid is no huddle.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Did we ever settle the Sim - a - NO vs. Sim - a - NAW debate?

One of my early introductions to reality. Great Snyder era players don’t make great NFL players.

Unless I missed one of these guys earlier in the countdown, I assume the rest of the list looks something like:

1. Sproles
2. Bishop
3. TLBL
4. Freemaw

They’re great. I’ve always been one to watch old games and footage (ESPN classic, YouTube, etc.), the no huddle puts it over the top. Steelbuck6 does a great job of cutting the games up.

Yep, watched both of the games posted and then enjoyed the 2003 Dr. Pepper no huddle when it popped up afterwards!

Freeman should not be top 3, let alone top 10.

The catch at 1:56 that broke Tejas' back in the 2012 Dr Pepper brought me the most joy in the moment.

That makes sense, as I only scrolled through the top 50ish when I was looking for him.  I have no excuse for spacing out on Newman, though, and no qualms about his ranking here.  He was definitely in my top 5.
