How much would Medicare for all cost, KSUW? And how much did we just add to the deficit with tax cuts & military spending in the past year?

Most of the criticism that I see of her makes her look pretty good.

Like that video montage, amiright? She's the new intellectual luminary of the left. I think her new nickname Occasional-Cortex is very unfair.

No, that video wasn't criticism. She makes herself look bad. The conservatives attacking her make her look good. I would vote for the socialist platform before I would vote for someone who views the platform on the below graphic as a bad thing.

You can't be serious.

Medicare for All: Can't afford it. Even California scrapped their plans for universal healthcare when they got the cost estimates. And on top of the gobsmacking cost, the quality won't be Medicare For All. It will Medicaid For All, except even worse.

Housing as a Human Right: So again, completely asinine and unaffordable.

A Federal Jobs Guarantee: Yes, bloating our federal workforce with even more make-work jobs sounds like a wonderful idea.

Assault Weapons Ban: So ineffective and cosmetic that the last iteration was repealed on a bipartisan basis.

End Private Prisons? You mean the prisons that run far more efficiently than many state-run prisons?

Abolish ICE: Right, not enforcing borders is a great prescription for success, especially when you want to give everyone all the free crap listed here.

Solidarity with PR: Ok. I guess this means sending even more billions their way until they're less third world than before the hurricane hit.

Mobilizing Against Climate Change:  Climate change. Still talking about that. I wonder how Occasional-Cortex and the Bern recently hopped around Kansas for fundraisers?

Ugh enough

She just looks better and better.

i may have to rethink socialism.  i didn't realize the arguments against it were so specious.

I saw someone on twitter say AOC's talking points are pretty effective because she's forcing her opponents to argue things like workers don't deserve to be paid enough to pay for a place to live

The version of capitalism we have is more socialist than most people think.  I am persuaded by arguments against the merits of individual proposals.  I am not persuaded by people who just  :runaway: at the word "socialism."

Every item on the Cortez platform that Hannity argued against is a noble goal that our government should be working toward. The arguments should be how to achieve those goals. When you argue against the goals themselves, you just look ridiculous.

Disagree. You can't argue much against the goals, most of them are great. However, you can certainly argue against the government's role in achieving them. Most of those are none of government's business.

I see the first 3 as arguable.

Can you explain?  I am having a hard time understanding how private citizens/companies can achieve any of these goals really.

also, it's not like "it's none of the government's business" has stopped the government from doing...anything before. Like, why does the government's business end with giving people a safety net in case they get sick? Weird threshold.

I think having enough homeless shelters to ensure roofs over heads during a typical poor economic cycle (sort of like planning for 100 year floods) is a noble, achievable goal.

Seriously, try and think of anything that's caused more death and human suffering than socialism in the last 200 years?

It's really hard to fathom people being so ignorant about history and current events, but here we are.

i have no idea what #7 means and i'm against #s 4 and 14.  #s 5, 6 and 8 i'm for.  all of the others, i could either be for or against depending on how the slogan is translated into details.  i guess that's slightly true of 4 and 14 too (and 5, 6 and 8 in the other direction), but i'm far enough to one side of the spectrum that it'd be pretty hard to make me go the other way on those.

I don't know what her plan for number 7 is, but when KSU argues that part of the United States should be a 3rd world crap hole as a rebuttal, it's easy to agree with her.

I don't even know what Glass Steagall would really get us, but the way Bernie pitched it (tax on Wallstreet speculation) seemed pretty appealing to me at the time.
