That problem has been a loaded gun so to speak in that area for decades. The general anti-Cali sentiment (and rightfully so for all the house pricing increases) is sad and horrible when then they turn on their own people. I suspect any small but touristy places are battling this exact issues, especially post covid, as the article suggested.

i think that might just sum it up perfectly. its amazing the mental gymnastics we will do in order to feel like we can say we "work harder" than this group, or "are smarter" than that group, or are in some way "more deserving" than some Other group.

i would love to see a social experiment where you take a homeless guy (esp if he's not white) and go up to some random blue collar white men and say "here's the deal, I'll give you $5000, but this homeless guy gets a million dollars. OR! I'll give you $500 and this homeless guy i'll start to hand him a $10 but right before he takes it i'll set it on fire and we can watch it burn right in front of his stupid homeless face and have a good laugh about it and you can spit on him if you feel like it"

And YOU have to pick up the bill or the bill doesnt get paid and you lose these services.

Fair points. The Dem messaging is horrific and they are terrible at modern politics. It just fascinates me. I know a lot of it is single issue voting and boogymen, but the R message is loud and clear. We are going to cut taxes, mostly for the rich and they will benefit the most by far and we are going to cut your benefits to pay for them. Also, if you are really poor, you are extra mumped. Yet, those very same people hear that message and respond with a resounding "eff yeah, let's do it" every time.
