I heard some sports nutritionist speak a while back and they said that brown rice is actually worse for your health than white rice.  Something about your body not being able to process the nutrients as efficiently in brown rice or something like that.

There’s some dog whistley aspects for sure, but I think a lot of it boils down to just plain ignorance about institutional problems.

MAGAs think you can just decide not to be poor and if you work hard enough you can be rich. So when MAGAs struggle themselves to make a comfortable living, they can only make sense of it by blaming someone else for conspiring against their happiness like the president, immigrants, other people getting any kind of help, etc.

You're right, "they hate poor people" is far too cavalier, to the point of being inaccurate. They know it's good policy to demonize the poor is a much better approach.

KK, sys is 100% right that despite their policies being very anti poor people and they continue to find new and inventive ways to exploit poor people, if you don't consider the feelings of policy makers and those who support them, they're very unlikely to change course and be more amenable to change. I learned this about race, if you don't call racist things racist people are much more likely to not do racist things and push racist policies.

In Mississippi, they took $1 million from the block grants meant to benefit poor families to pay Brett Farve to not give speeches and took even more to build a volleyball arena for his daughter.



Now that is an extreme example and may well end up being prosecutable fraud, but in tons of states they take money from welfare to do all kind of things that don’t feed poor kids.

It’s almost worse when they try to dress things up under the guise of being reasonable like when not just Sam Brownback, but multiple states, used money for private companies to give presentations on marriage using money to help poor people provide for their families. No extra money, money for this instead of for lunches or groceries or material support for poor families. It is a choice.

I agree. To convince people that hate poor people to not do that would benefit from a different strategy than the one I used.
