Update here. They removed all of these provisions from the bill and instead want to ban the ability to buy soda and candy with SNAP. Two things worth noting here. First, I believe there are other states, like Kansas, that don't allow SNAP recipients to buy candy and soda with SNAP. Second, doing any of this publicly, particularly on the floor of the state house and/or senate is completely performative given any changes to SNAP, by any state, has to be given a waiver from the federal government before they can be made.
