What do we do about it only being able to do 7 transactions per second?
SD has the right answer but I’ll expand on it a bit.

I haven’t talked about it recently but have extensively over the past few years but Lightning Network is how you scale. Devs have been building it out, a lot of things happen on the layer 2 network, then you only settle it on chain when you close a LN channel. This reduces transactions on the blockchain and increases bandwidth at the same time.

Liquid is another form of a layer 2 scaling solution that exchanges can use to move BTC around, again reduces on chain transactions and increasing bandwidth. It will get to the point where this will all be abstracted away and users won’t know or care. It’s how stuff on the internet just works, what’s actually happening behind the scenes is abstracted away and protocol switching happens under the hood.

So eventually BTC won’t be really slow and expensive to move money like it is right now?

Why do you think it’s called digital gold? Gold is expensive and slow to move, but it has a store of value. So you only move it if it’s worth it with that in mind. Bitcoin is better than gold tho because you can move billions of dollars worth, anywhere in the world quickly, for a tiny amount of money.

That’s why you store gold as a reserve and we used to peg paper money and coins as our daily exchange of it. Think of Lightning Network as the paper money or coins layer for Bitcoin.

I think I've said this before here but I'm only trading the BTC I keep on me on my phone.  My long term stuff is parked and not moving.  I think we may have a slight pullback around $30k then we march on higher.  If I'm wrong I miss out on $1500 swing? lol

dabigtrain- let's say two people were betting on how much money you had in BTC, what would your answer be?

I pulled out my initial investment a week ago, which had almost quadrupled in a year. Kinda sucks, but never look back. Only up. It's all gains from now on.

In 2017 you could buy ETH for $10.  Can you imagine?

I know there are loads of "coulda bought bitcoin when" stories, but I used to always read about it in Gawker and definitely looked into it 2013/14ish. It seemed too complicated to buy, though, and $400 or so per bitcoin was a bit more than I would have liked to have spent. The biggest reason I bought in 2017 by far is that I would have regretted missing a second opportunity.
