A lady at work was talking the other day about how she got pregnant so her boyfriend would propose.

What an excellent reason to break up with someone.
Effing bitch. Girls are the worst. I had a girl I was dating last summer who was 4 years older then me and she stopped taking the pill without telling me. I ended up noticing cause I started watching her pill case. I find out she was baby crazy and ended it. Problem was I worked with her, so she quit the following Monday and moved back home to Detroit the next week. I have a no dating clause at work now.

I would have a lot more confidence in having kids eventually if everyone with kids was actiing like michigancat and rick daris.  the desperate rantings about flawed studies, unfullfilled/meaningless lives, etc. make me think some people are not so pleased with their life decision to be breeders.

Just remember that you are probably a lot more like rick daris and michigancat than the people who doth protest too much so you will probably have results similar to rick daris and michigancat. If and when you make that decision.

Good.  Get with BBF$$Kat on his extra ticket for Saturday and what time we're leaving.

LOL, well played.  My official excuse is that i'm going to the casino for a friend's birthday.  You guys should come down after hipster pizza.   We'll be :kstategrad:'n it all over that place.

FTR, I was being sarcastic with the "unfulfilled and meaningless" comment.

...and that was a flawed study goddammit.  :dubious:

But in all seriousness, have kids or don't have kids.  I can't really pretend like a GAF.  :dunno:

The happiest times of my life are playing with my kids and seeing them succeed in life.  Watch them discover new things when they are young.  I really could not be happier in my life.  No amount of traveling could do that for me, but I'm not into traveling all that much, so it works for me.  Kids are not for everyone and there are Millions of people who have kids that shouldn't, so doen't go into having babies too lightly.

1 is better than 2, 2 is better than 3.  kids at 35 are better than at 25, which is better than at 15.  there are shades of grey.

I bought my boy a little toy mower that blows bubbles.  he follows me around when I mow and loves it.  In like 3 yrs, I won't have to mow my own lawn for like the next 10yrs after that.

Also, now when I am at the inlaws or really anywhere with my kids, you can leave whenevs you want w/o looking like a jackass.  Just say something about a tired kid and it's all good.  No one wants a kid to explode in front of them.

When they are young, everyone thinks they are cute and wants to watch them for you while you got to Wild Wild Cat games.  When they aren't young and cute anymore, they can watch themselves, after mowing the lawn, while you go to Wild Wild Cat games.

Don't run him over with your mower.

Yeah, would be a huge waste of investment in the bubble mower if he can't eventually take over the job due to some mowing accident/injury.

you know the burnout who has dedicated his life to warning kids about the dangers of drugs, urging them not to make the same mistakes he made?  that's me in this thread.  before i had any, i was totally wrong about kids and happiness.

it's like, you can be educated without going to college, but it's just not the same thing.  it might also be the case that while you can lead a happy life without having kids, it's just not going to be the same thing.

i think the important thing that keeps getting missed is that people with kids can/do have just as much fun as people without kids.  it's just that instead of passing out and throwing up from too much pak'ing, you pass out and throw up from too much sun at the zoo (or whatevs)

People with kids don't take 9-day trips to Kauai or impromptu weekend trips to Chicago or two trips to Vegas in six months.   at those travel plans.

Some people just take their kids along. Others leave them with the grandparents. Most are two poor to travel further than the next state, though.

I had a though that might make SD schedule the vasectomy tomorrow.  You can of course still do all the travelling you do now w/ kids.  The only difference is doubling the reward miles it costs you.

it seems pretty simple, really.  if you think things like trying different restaurants, seeing new sights, and pontificating about this stuff with your old lady for the next thirty to forty years is as good as it gets, then plan not to have kids.  then, when you're on your deathbed, you can go out with smile on your face, thinking about how awesome it was to eat that pizza in venice with the oysters on it, shell and all.

Part of me thinks one of Chum's major reasons for having kids is have someone to take care of him when he is old.

It's not a bad reason, honestly.
