Not gonna lie, I'm kinda bummed that today's kids don't have anything better to do than go fishing. It's 2025

Not my kid but when I was on taking the dog out for a bathroom break during lunch there was this kid (11-12ish) cruising thru the neighborhood on an electric scooter wearing a backpack that had four massive fishing poles poking out of the sides. Looked like he was headed back from fishing at the community pond. There's a kid having a great childhood. (xpost fishing thread)

lil sd's entire baseball team does this. they are all on some phone app where you upload the fish pictures or something and everyone comments on each others fish and you add friends like facebook. it's fishing facebook but only for fish pictures and commenting on fish.
that's great

It’s hard for exburb kids that can’t drive to do much. Things are too far away. Fishing at neighborhood ponds is one thing that is pretty great and accessible to them.

Even where I live it’s a 20 minute+ walk to the nearest in-town places.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Like I'm not saying "city" living is the best or the correct answer, but it's this sort of stuff that makes me so glad I live in places I can easily walk/get to. It's even more for kids. Even if I lived in the "hinter lands" it'd still be in small town itself. Only if farmin' would I do anything else. Glad to be done with soul sucky 'burbs.
